Refinishing the wheels - not possible except at Chrysler dealership?
I was getting some new Michelin Pilot Sports put on and I asked the tire guy if they could refinish the wheels and remove the curb rash (yes I curbed it - twice!)
They said they'd send it to a local shop who could fix it up and then the local shop called me and said they couldn't do the work.
They said that they don't have the special diamond tip tool to refinish the wheel, and that no one could refinish the wheel correctly because only Chrysler has the correct equipment. He also said the wheel is machined aluminum on the outer edges and PAINTED in the interior portions which I had no idea was the case.
I guess I have to take the wheels to the dealer to get redone, eh? I am in Atlanta, so anyone with a shop in mind who can do the job right please let me know or else I'll bite the bullet and take it to Chrysler. Although I am afraid that'll end up costing more than buying the darn things

I looked into this a while back having curbed my wheels slightly and found that because of our brushed aluminum rims refinishing becomes nearly impractical from a cost standpoint. Was pretty disappointed to hear that. Honestly I could have done with standard alloy rims in the same style and been totally fine with it - considering almost any wheel/tire shop can refinish alloys and no one can refinish brushed aluminum. Good luck getting a Chrysler dealership to do the refinish, I am sure they wouldn't have a clue what to do.
I would suggest your best bet is to find a pair of clean used wheels. Check E-Bay as well as the forum listing right here. They come up for sale quite often. After you find them and get them mounted . . . STAY AWAY FROM THOSE CURBS! LOL
Now who here wants to make me a great deal on some like-new rims?
Chrysler has nothing to do with these wheels. They were machined in Europe, not the US. Any good wheel repair facility could redo these wheels. I had some MB wheels done locally and the look perfect. You can use some "0000" steel wool on the damaged areas to clean them up. It won't get rid of the deep scratches but is will get the dirt and grime out to where you won't notice it as much.
Any dealer will just send them out to a local wheel shop. I wouldn't waste my time even asking.
A local place for me repairs wheels just as shown in this video. They look perfect when finished.

well I am talking about refinishing brushed aluminum wheels specifically - I did call the Chrysler dealership and they said no problem bring them right over - maybe it is easier that the first wheel shop made it out to be.
I just called a third wheel shop and they said they will take a look

Have you tried Wheel Wizard? I'm near Atl too and they've done some work for me...
Never tried wheel wizard - thanks for the recommendation though. Will keep the name. Right now my wheels are out to a wheel shop that partners with discount tire in smyrna. Will post back name of company and pics if they do a good job.
Please do!
