BUT! Isn't the 'stem' the antenna? I thought they were insulated from the rim by the mounting hardware. If you paint over the base, will you be somehow 'connecting' the antenna electronically to the rim (don't know if the 'paint' has conductive properties). Also, if you 'paint' the stem you'll change the radiation properties of the output signal. Just a thought, anyone else have an opinion?
