Am i the only one who feels that the SRT-6 should have a 6-speed in it?

Seems like it should at least be an option! I'm surprised that there is even an automatic in it all!

I've had an SRT6 on order since I took delivery on my 6 speed Coupe in April... I told my dealer not to rush because I wasn't really thrilled about the auto tranny, but really wanted the 330 hp...

I don't think they will ever introduce the SRT6 with a manual tranny as the parts they are using to build the car are 3 year old SLK32 power trains and they never delivered that car with a manual...

I'm disheartened as well... But I figure I can have a manual tranny built for the SRT6 alot cheaper than supercharging & intercooling my standard crossfire...

This discussion is as old as the SLK32 AMG - that is since 2001.
Unfortunately there isn't and never will be a factory manual for any AMG car and thus also not for the SRT-6.

Cheers,
Tim

The stock transmission definitely cannot. The transmission of the Viper i.e. of course could withstand, but DC will not offer it. That is a fact.

Interesting, I just emailed RENNTech this morning. Their response said that their upgrade includes a complete engine rebuild and transmission overhaul. That's how they're able to make the car handle the added power.

To be more precise: the stock-stock transmission will not handle the power. An overhauled stock transmission with a stronger clutch might handle the power but not the quality standards of DC. I cannot tell you how exactly these standards are defined but it is something like a transmission must stand 100,000 miles without braking and probably it wouldn't do?!
When I upgraded my supercharged SLK230 back in 1998 from 193HP/280Nm to 228HP/ 350Nm the clutch slipped after only 5,000km and had to be replaced by a aftermarket clutch.

Damn, no wonder its so damn expensive. Not to bad a price when you consider those things being done.
