Default Upshifting "Manually" sometimes revs UNCOMFORTABLY high

I'm not sure if it's my car or what, but when I shift "manually" it appears to rev a little too long beyond the moment I shift, sometimes approaching red line; and I think to myself "SHIFT!! SHIFT!!"
Does anyone experience this? Am I supposed to let off the gas between shifts? I would have thought it would find the gear electronically, with or without the gas I'm giving it. Am I way off here?

Any insight into known "manual" shifting tips and pointers would be AWESOME.

I have noticed this on my car and other Crossfires and don't like it but have adapted. I shift just a few seconds earlier than I want. Eventually you will get used to it and adjust.

Thank you for your response. No bueno; no bueno. Argh! At least I know it's not my car.

So okay, well... I guess my next question would then be; would taking my foot off the gas between shifts help; is that recommended? Do you take YOUR foot off the gas between shifts?
And finally, would an ECU tune in any way change what you suggest is this apparently known shifting issue?

Manually commanded shifts are painfully slow. Slow enough that I almost never use the feature.

I don't back off the gas during the shifts. I have read there are special solenoids that will take care of this problem. James

One of the main complaints about the crossfires when new is these trannys were represented to be more than they were. We were expecting more immediate shift response when, in fact these don't shift any faster or direct than a select shift auto from the 60's does. This is not a clutched tranny like the high end paddle shifters are.
