Low mileage buy
Got a chance to buy a STR6 with LOW mileage- BUT it was a lemon return in Florida. Maybe the reason it has low mileage?? Any opinions or how to find out what the problem might have been?? OR, how concerned I should be?
Thanks,
Shawn

get a car fax on it, see what pops up, it should have the ownership chain, call the previous dealership and see what you can dig up. On something like that, there should be some records.
I had a new truck that just couldn't get fixed once, took all the enjoyment out of it for me. It was before the lemon law or at least at a time I didn't know of one, I ended up trading it in on another truck.

Yeah, pulled the Carfax - that's how I found out. back in the old days they actually used to give owner's names - but I guess they figured that was too intrusive??

It should say where the work was done and when. It could be a good start.

No longer in Florida- it is now in Saint Louis, but spent it's whole life in Fl. Sold in Plantation florida (Massey Yardley), then later lived around Bartow and Winter Haven. (Tom Edwards Chrysler).
Yeah, from what I can see it was owned by dealers a lot of it's life. Looks like it might be a transmission problem from what I can see (3 returns from first owner for drivability/transmission problems). Last owner had it for over 3 years and appears to never had any further problems. Dealer in South Saint Louis bought it at an auction in Florida. Gives a lifetime engine and transmission warranty and a 3 month warranty on most everything else (probably NOT the supercharger from what I have seen in other policies). Have you seen this car??

OK - that deal fell through. Tried to put a deposit on it via paypal until I could get down there to look at it- but they would not do it. Sold yesterday. Anyway, today- got a lead on a grey convertible - my mechanic is looking it over as we speak. Things happen for a reason I guess. Can't be that many of them I guess
