Had Valve Cover Gaskets Done by MB
Just thought I would share this with the group. I had my local Mercedes dealer do a valve cover gasket job on my SRT roadster and check over a few other items. Normally I would do this work myself, but the garage is tied up and I will need the car for an upcoming trip. Also, I have lost confidence in my local Chrysler dealer.
I asked the Mercedes shop to change the valve cover gaskets, change the supercharger oil, check the supercharger bearing and all pulleys and idlers on the front of the motor.
Total cost of the bill was $867.80.
5.5 hrs @ 128.90 per hr = $708.95
(1) 112-016-02-21 gasket = $31.85
(1) 112-016-03-21 gasket= $31.85
(5) 000000-004436 screw= $18.60
(1) 003-989-98-20-10 sealant= MB $23.50
(2) 010-989-90-71 stripper = $2.60
(2) 001-986-71-71-10 cleaning com $5.20
(1) C111 cleaner $5.99
They state car is operating as designed, normal operation at this time. No problems with pulleys or bearings at this time.
Under "Change Super Charger Oil" is a note. "There is no supercharger oil."
I questioned the service manager on this and he said, "The super charger is lubricated by the engine oil". Does Mercedes consider the supercharger oil good for the life of the car?
I know better and didn't push the issue. The car has only 67k miles and is not driven hard. I'll do it myself over the winter once my other projects are out of the way.
I did get a nice wash and vacuum job out of them and they guaranty the work for 12 months unlimited miles.

128.90 an hour. I need to open a garage. 90 around here. As long as you are happy is what counts. For the rest of guys, no more free advise.........J/K.....
So it's like this Doc ?
" Send me an PM, I'll reply with my PayPal account, you put $90 in it as a gift, I will then PM you back with my advise "
Works for me.

I think they looked at your car and waited for the parts department to bring the supplies for 4.5 hours and worked 1. I'm exaggerating but gee wiz that was expensive for what was done. I mean, take off the coil packs and pull the valve covers, clean it up and back together again.

Well, I'm in the process of changing my own gaskets. Guess now I know how much I'm saving
As for the supercharger oil, do a search. It's a little much for me to re-type, but I'm changing mine soon. Not engine oil, different jet oil.
