DEI Header Wrap?
Is anyone out there using DEI header wrap actually on their headers and not on their intake tubes? The thought has crossed my mind to do so but there seems to be a rarity of this (based on lack of search results). Heat soak is our enemy so am i overlooking something? Just seems like a fairly inexpensive way to help with heat.
I have it on my intake tubes and headers. It works but once the wrapped part gets hot, the wrap keeps the heat trapped and the wrapped items take forever to cool. Well placed heat shields would be a better way to go.

That was the meaning of my post. I dont wanna wrap my intake, i wanted to wrap my headers for the very exact reason u said-keep the temps in
For better or worse, I wrapped the N.W.'s downpipes from connection to the exhaust manifolds down to the cutouts. Didn't do the manifolds themselves.
Im willing to bet that if ur headers were off, they would of got wrapped lol. Atleast i know i would. I think thats a big part to why ppl dont wrap them, they just dont wanna go thru the process of taking them off. as far as design, our headers dont get anymore basic than what they are. Its basically a single pipe with 3 holes lol

Ur absolutely right in calling them exhaust manifolds. I have a bad habit of calling them headers.
The exhaust runners are surrounded by a heat shield already. Wrapping them, IMO, won't make a great difference in under hood temperatures if that's the goal. It hasn't done much on mine that I can tell.

yea, pretty much the reason i was goin to attempt lol
Also wanted to thank u for ur honest opinion on ur long tubes that u posted in another thread. U saved me alot of money that i cant afford tocpart with. I thought paying for AIR (at gas stations) is where i drew the line. The nerve of them to charge $3k for minimal gains.....
I don't regret getting the headers at all, except for the cost/benefit ratio. The sound is glorious! I'm sure a true dyno tune would find more power but flying Jerry to P.R. just isn't cost effective ….. maybe I should give him a call and ask ….. humm. Anyway, talk to Paxton, he installed the same headers along with 550 cc injectors and got a dyno tune with great results.

les, maybe jerry at ec can use the tune he put on mine as a start, pretty similar mods I see. I didn't wrap the header. had it coated instead. however Vinnie Ruggerio at mesablackworks.com told me since the header is stainless steel it doesn't hold or transmit heat well. they need nothing. living in texas I went with thermal coating if nothing else, it looks great and if it helps at all heat wise even better.
these headers with a tune really make this engine sing, you should hear the dyno pulls, it was screaming and sounding fantastic. and only at 6k not the 6250rpm avail w trans tune.
the engine is really stronger pulling w headers and with tuning its very easy to drive,. refined, smooth power start to finish.
the drag meet locally for Friday was cancelled for anticipated bad weather. car and son are headed to a strip asap.

are we talking NW Inconel "headers" or something else?
I have a pair of Vlad's old short headers...looking very nice on the bookshelf. That's probably where they'll stay...

mesablackworks.com div of dynocomp.
stainless longtube headers see dyno sheet in gallery.
those figures are on a awd dyno so the fronts are also being driven by the back.

ouch!....2500 bucks!
Interesting - r these new?? - I recall previous conversations around long tubes not being able to fit the SRT6?
What are the gains like? pjp's Dyno looks good, but /w the NW manis as well by the looks....pulley combo?

I wrapped my NW intake pipes but not with DEI product. I used foam pipe insulation, doesn't stick when hot nor discolor the piping. Yes it is designed to keep temps in and that is what I wanted, the cool air from the filters in front of the radiator, kept cool and not picking up the heat from the piping itself which will become just about too hot to touch without some kind of insulation.
