I have been told no. But that is hard to accept. I want to hear, yes.

While I have found numerous threads related to this issue I have not found the difinitive fix presented. Did I miss that thread? I have a roadster that is an SRT6. Non-SRT6 fits may not pertain and fitting in a coupe certainly does not. I will deal with the take off as I need to.

Just over an hour into my ownership of this car a tire blew up, just completely shredded living me stranded over night in rural .... someplace. There must be someone that has fit a donut spare into a roadster trunk that can be installed both on the front and rear without rubbing.

I know all all the negative comments I am inviting from those that have failed, but is there no one that has succeeded and will share EXACTLY which spare did the trick??

I'm think it can be worked out. Moparbust, I believe, was running 18" MB spare rims on the front of his car at the track. With appropriate rubber, of course. When you find a rim you'll have to work out the lugs if you need a spacer on one end of the car, or both. And you'll need a tire diameter that's not too far off either on the front or rear or you'll hit limp mode and your stuck anyway. So, find a rim, find a tire in the middle, need a spacer? Get the right size and don't forget lugs of the correct length that may or may not work on both ends of the car. Or decide on a front or rear spare and put run flats on the other end. Sounds like money without a really good solution the more I think about it.

I think I prefer limp home mode to walk home mode any day.

I would not use a spare in the trunk unless it was securely bolted down, you may survive a front end crash but getting hit from behind by a tire and rim may just be too much to endure.

Why I want a spare.

1) The sign I stared at for more than three hours with no cell service just after buying my car.

2) No fixit in a can would fix this.

3) Looking really good (and really fast) even when towed.

$500 poorer and a day later, back on the road.

The roadsters, both SRT6 and NA, have that extra bracing under the trunk.
I wouldn't think it would be too much effort to fab up a light hitch to pull a small trailer like the bikers do.
Then you could carry both a 19" and 18" spare with maybe some room left over for a few 6 packs on road trips that are beyond your AAA towing limit !

An old VW Thing I once owned had stubby vertical pipes welded to the bumpers to enable easy attachment of an over the soft top rack like the ladder racks I now see on some contractor trucks.
Maybe it could be incorporated into a bumper guard device with under car attachments so it would not mess up the bumpers. sorta Mad Max like.

I do recall when I was first hunting a Crossfire someone had a nice trailer set up for their drag tires and that one is a nice looking trailer but I am of that less is more school.

 

No food, No water, No bathrooms, No cell phone (much less internet) where I was. Just the teaser billboard rubbing it in.

11 miles is not bad unless pushing a Crossfire with a flat.

 

I'm sure there is a doughnut "spare" you can find that will work, just do a search here on the forum for spare tires.
AAA paid the complete towing charge for our car to Amarillo TX from Tucumcari NM on a flat bed when we had a flat tire a couple years ago.

I don't have a SRT6 Roadster, but I do have a space saver spare tire in my SRT6 coupe, for emergency service.
I purchased the tire/rim/lugs as a package from a German parts supplier located in Potomac, Maryland several years ago. I went out to the garage and measured the exterior dimensions of the spare, it's tread is 6" wide and 21.75" in diameter, when collapsed.
The tire is a Vredestein brand (145-70-17) and is almost identical to the stock size wheel/tire (255-35-19) of the original equipment tire circumference on all SRT6's and N/A's. This was out of a 2003 SLK32 salvaged/parts car.
This spare fits the front and rear, with adequate clearance.

OK, it would appear the the above mentioned spare just might fit in a roadster trunk. ( not sure, haven't measured )
My question is what do you do with the flat 18/19" wheel and tire when and if you have to use the spare, and you have a passenger with you ?
Never mind, I have the answer - hide the flat somewhere, drive somewhere that can fix it, leave the passenger, go back and get the flat tire ( I you hid it well enough )
OR
put the top up, tie the flat on the top with some padding, turn on the emergency flashers and drive slowly and carefully to where you can get it fixed.

You need new bolts if using a steel wheel spare!
