Default Turbo'd srt-6

What ever happened to the turbo charged srt6 that Eurocharged built back in 2009. I was just reading about that project. They did it in like 17 days Put down 475 hp and cost under $5000. Why isnt turbo an option for us!?!

Lack of SRT-6's on the road, lack of people that own an SRT-6 that want to turbo it. Will need lots of custom tuning too to run properly. That is why there is only 1 or 2 in the 11 years the SRT-6 has been out for

I can think of 5,000 reasons why.

Well I was looking at doing some work a while back with Eurocharged on mine but the bill just kept getting higher.

I originally went to them and asked for a quote on twin turbos feeding into the supercharger.

Yes, I know it was already a huge undertaking. It was originally a quote for $10k... a lot.

(I had decided at the time I was planning on spending all savings.)

I went back and it went from 10k to 15k... to 17.5k....

Then the final quote came in for 22.5k and I was just completely done by then.

I am glad it kept going up in price because it saved me so much money and brought me back to my senses.

In the end I am happy with what I have and will just wait till I win the lottery to do it with out going broke.

But the idea of 550rwhp before building the motor sounded great. But still for that cost I can get something else.

I've had a few turbo cars and a couple with SC's. It is so much easier and less costly with a working platform. Turbo cars do make more power than one with a SC as they do not take power from the engine but have some lag but less as technology improves. Take the Crossfire, i have an SLK32 AMG, and enjoy reaching a high 11 a that seems to be the target for these cars. Of course you can always call them and ask what happened with that car.
Quickest car I have ever owned was a '93 eagle talon tsi, AWD, 5-speed. 1.68 60', 11.68 in the 1/4 with a trap speed of 122. None of the big block cars I owned came close to that and the entire motor rebuild was $4000. Tunes adjust timing and fuel. An AFR gauge takes care of the fuel needs and of course their is the timing. Mitsubishi offered DSM link, a tuning chip for $500. that did a lot.
Enjoy what you have and weigh the mods against the buck. When you get a new platform look for a car with a turbo and go from there. these cars are still a blast to drive and if you hit 11's that is quick compared to the big blocks of the past.

Yea, ask DJ. ( tighed1 )
He has LOTS of experience

( I'm kidding here, DON'T ask him. He delivered his NA to Bell Engineering about 4 years ago to have a turbo installed, as far as I know at this point he STILL doesn't have the car back )

SRT6's are fun to mod to a point. The cars are unique. Fun little cars. But where do you start and stop modding on a car that has zero aftermarket parts from the manufacturer? Forutnately for some us, we have a few individual producing aftermarket parts. Some still active, some not. I have 3K in mods on the roadster, and will have 5K in the coupe when it is done. I have done to them what I like. Not what anyone else likes, just me. Paid for and fun to play with. But, I would never surpass that amount in either car. I would buy a different car before I would put anymore into them than what I have done so far. Just me. Why would you want to twin turbo a 3.2 liter motor turning 6200 rpm. You could have Rudy do a v-8 swap and have all the HP you could handle in such a short wheel base car. The V-8's are just plain wicked. My coupe is all want to handle at this point. Happy modding.

Last 2 emails.

DJ,
I have to apologize for not getting done what I said I would in the last 10 days.

The fuel pressure regulator was not covering the span it needs to, we removed it, checked it on the calibration bench and found nothing amiss.

Back onto the car and still not behaving, but does not appear to be the fuel pump. Then we got rained out for three days. I've not investigated further.

Tomorrow is a bust with other obligations and Mary and I are headed for Fort Worth for the weekend. I will try again on Monday to gather my forces
and get it squared away. The answer will be annoyingly obvious when I find it.

Thanks for hanging in there, next week will be better.

Howdy,
Missed the Wednesday, but back in shape. It was a pretty good week with most everything going smoothly.

The XF and I got a bit crosswise, as the fuel pressure regulator would not tune in real well. I know what is amiss, but have not corrected it yet.
That will be tomorrow's first chore. With confidence that we were ready to ship and beginning to polish her up, I was a bit overconfident.
Nothing lost, needs a good cleaning, regrdless.

I've got a couple obligations this week with machine shops, but time is available to fix the regulator and clean her up. I think we will get it done.

In touch with a couple shippers. We will choose the best combo of a quality truck and cost. Are you there for the next 2 or 3 weeks?

Thanks DJ !
I for one don't wish to hound you on this, but if by some miracle you DO get it back actually running with the turbo, you would be the center of attention if you could make the fall dragon meet.
Forget about the spring GTG, that's just 3 weeks away, and I would not wish you to undertake a journey of that length ( 1820 miles each way ) before you get some 'close to home' miles on it.
You could go the reddog route and get a big a$$ hauler and a trailer
( the latest Vegas line says you won't have the car back in 3 weeks anyway )
