Zeitronix IAT sensor question
Probably a stretch to ask, but is there a way to tap into our IAT sensor to feed the output to a Zt-2? Noticed that our stock sensor has a simple connection with two wires. Their sensor uses two wires. I don't have a problem buying their sensor. Just wouldn't want to make an extra hole in any of the components to mount it. Any help would be appreciated. I tend to stay away from wiring.
I see you didn't get an answer. I added bungs when I installed mine. It been a long time ago. When temps get a little warmer I am tearing into mine to do the rear end gear, I will be going over all that again. Getting more familiar with the zeitronix again. Haven't used in it a couple of yrs. I'll share all that with you then. I never did figure out how to set the parameters for the fuel pressure gauge. So I have to brush up too.
Thanks for the response doc. My main goal is to log as much data as possible through the Zt-2. Don't see the point of buying such a tool and only using it to log boost and AFR. Then again, I don't want to spend extra $$$ for sensors if I can tap into existing ones already on the car. Boost, IAT, and fuel pressure are the ones I'm concerned with after the ever important AFR. My friend has a welder and a nice shop to take care of the O2 bung install.
That's where our stock one is located. Plus it's a cast aluminum pipe with fairly thin walls. I was thinking it would just be easier to tap the wires from the stock sensor since it's easily accessible.
Hopefully I'm reading the schematics properly and Zeitronix's website correctly. Their IAT sensor is a two-wire sensor, our OEM is also. They have a signal wire and ground, so does the OEM. It looks like I tap the YL/DG (yellow, dark green?) wire for signal and BR/YL (brown, yellow) for the ground. The yellow/green wire should hook up to the Zt-2's white/brown wire for User2 input (which can be renamed), and the brown/yellow wire will go to the brown wire for a ground on the box. Other than that, everything else is hooked up and I'm pleased with it.
Chuk I read IAT,,eng temp, throttle pos, mph, timming, left and right afr, Boost, fuel pressure and a few others i can't remember right now all set up by Rob and Rudy ask rob (needswings), how to set it up..jim
Jim, I can read everything else through the OBDII port, but I'd rather see it on the display. Not the easiest thing to stare at a laptop in the passenger seat while you're trying to control the car. It's either IAT or fuel pressure, and fuel pressure parts will cost an $75 or so. Getting my IAT should be free of extra expenses. Shame the Zeitronix display won't let you replace the EGT reading for something else.
Chuk, take a look at my zeitronix pause it and you can see all the readings i have ,, this was a few years ago without the 2nd afr and the fuel . you will see that i have 12 slots but at this time i was only using 10 also the batt and map is not needed, which allows me 4 places to add what ever i want. I will be adding transmission temp this year and maybe oil temp.

You have the fancy DashdaqXL, I have the Zeitronix LCD display. Only 3 readouts available to choose on it. The EGT readout is dedicated to K type probes.
Now it is clear,, and I also remember i had one like that ,, I got off a member here,, sold it to a Merdedes guy, Maybe Rob would help you upgrade. jim
