Got my mufflers installed, now to gihuren oi
You aught to see it from my side! OK. It nis not overly loud and that was a factor going in, it could not be loud. Oh. NO DRONE, I actually forgot about that. I'll get so,e driving nin as manyn different conditiojs as I cvan but I am in Florida afterall. First gear breaks the tires much easier. I went without na tip as the muffler has a 3" outlet and the tips I tried were overwhelming"gihuren oi" is of no meaning to me but Timothy Leary and the very well known orange variety and I became acquainted at the time. Nixon was leading the country at that time also so take a pinch and take your chances. Back in '71 there were a wide variety of such as the Moody Blues sang of in their ode to Leary. Pharmacy alarms range on a regular basis along main street in Daytona Beach and I spend 2 months with the house band and there is something about people wanting the band to sample the wares of the locals.
I will see about some sound bites and as already instated it is not loud. That Magnafkow TRU X-pipe muffler is a work of exhaust system art! I will find a couple of safe type spots if I can as the kids are in school and I have never seen so many law enforcement types.
The price to install the pieces was $300.
How about a tip or two on recording the nsound of the mufflers? My 26 year old nephew said he2 does not know how to record. I can do one at idle and if he will ride with me maybe get some different gears at different rpm ranges. From what I have seen and heard I would not worry about the visceral issues at all. Just too bad our year of car(The SLK's anyways) would not be an issue Make the bvehicle sound tough but mnot obnoxious but I have the Mercedes and not the Chrysler.
I can do a top of third gear for you guys.
It may take a day for sound bites. Bear with me. I can say the sound will likrly be boring, what with no drone

Last trip was mothers day 1998. At that time the 2 guys responsible for the production of 98% of the worlds supply were busted so be careful. Most of what is marketed as LSD is STP or DOM, easier to make and even Owsley didn't find a market for it. Wrong forum anyways so here we go after some driving up to 100. There is of course a distinct sound, a bit as one would expect with a V6. I believe a perforated tip as sold by Advance auto would take care of 75% of that sick sound. I was told my $20. cell phone may not have sound recording capabilities. I will check that out with my laptop repair guy.
No regrets except for $1100. coated log headers, and what may have been, but Rob and I left our friendship and business relationships intact.
As stated earlier first gear of course has shown the greatest improvement, breaking the 245's at any rpm. I also poured in a can of TecRon, even with new injectors. I'll have to get that oil separator kit installed as it has been almost 2 years that I have had it.
Part of the perceived power increase has to do with the new, deeper sound which will be made deeper as I work on it. More to follow as it sees more miles. If anyone has a reasonable test I will try to accomodate.
The Borla increases flow without drone but the jewel IMHO is that Magnaflow TRU X-pipe muffler. If you have never seen one they are a marvel piece of work. Besides being an x-pipe they have a very large amount of perforated surface area adding to this muffler's design and workmanship. Mark

At least we finally know what his trip is.
I am somewhat disappointed up to now. My E/C datalog is not working, maybe it has been so long I am doing something different. The shop removed a brace-bar that went from the center of the body to the outer edge to fit the Borla without telling me and now they can't find it. I have no quantified way to judge the value of the exhaust work. To have to give up that brace was not worth it and I am sure there is a way around that. One thing I can see is whether there is a drop in boost or increase.................if the datalog function worked. It keeps telling me it cannot recognize the VIN. The way things are now I would put thee stock rear muffler back and keep that Magnaflow TRU X I love so much. I do hope to find some data to add sometime soon, mark
PS: What a change in people's quest through drugs. Being a christian i have chosen a different route as drugs for a higher consciousness for communing with gods has been a pagan ritual for centuries. The ideals of the 60's and those drugs have given way to very costly, very addicting and debilitating substances of our very young millennia. A $3. tab, good for 2-4 friends has given way to $300. eights of blow for a few hours. Stick with cars for your addiction but in it's place as drugs suck. Sorry, had to rant.

Open the datalog software, go to the Vehicle Reflash tab, select your tune file and switch to the datalog tab. Euroflash won't recognize the VIN if you don't have a tune file selected with your VIN in it.
Thanks Chuk, I'll try that. Actually reload the same tune I am running? Assuming you will reads this Chuk the muffler shop removed the brace that runs from the outboard side of the rocker panel where one would place a jack and then it fixes around the tunnel for the driveshaft/rear-end. They tossed the brace so it seems without ever asking about it when changing the muffler, it just made their work easier. I need to get a name and then a price so they can face the cost if they do not source one themselves. I wanted the muffler changed in like manner as the stock muffler so that brace stayed. I don't think the brace is critical as there is no different feel to the drive such as when a stabilizer link is left off. the owner who worked on my ride had a '71 Duster with a HEMI motor so I made that mistake of all mistakes and assumed he would treat my car as his, NOT!
Now I can get a few pulls and see what differences I see with the exhaust and this tune with 1.5* extra on top of the tune that was made for maxing the octane with TORCO. maybe I can find a shop with 100 near Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte. Sweet

That did the trick Chuk! Now to find that deserted street this weekend and get the deal the muffler guys messed up!
I have to say the exhaust made a huge difference, one I can feel and that takes 20-30-whp for me to feel. It just screams through the first two gears and have not had a good lace to wring third to redline. Maybe on the interstate. Gas mileage seems tom be better also. My take on this is because I run 50% more boost than stock there is more spent gasses to get out and that Magnaflow with then built in X-pipe is of wonderful design and workmanship with the Borla exiiting out back. It is louder than I would have likes and am not sure a round perforated muffler would fit between the 2 existing mufflers. Perforated mufflers don't lose power and neither do they deaden sound very well. For the power it gained I'll take the sound.
It literally screams and often goes past redline in 1st gear since it revs so quickly! I highly recommend the combo i used. Fairly inexpensive power like adding the 65mm SC pulley. If you don't mind the sound I highly recommend it, Mark

PS: I am in SW Florida where it still has it's hot days and still it pulls hard. i want to do a thermostat mod so coolant, how little flow begins at start up. From what I can tell drilling 4 holes the size of a nickle would do the trick and have the fan operate at a sooner temp number or have it hot wired to work whenever then car has then motor running.
21psi makes ma lot more spent gasses to evacuate. Then running into the Magnafloe TRU X-pipe internals is a great piece meant to even then uneven flow of the V6 motor dumping inrto the magnaflow "Y: and 3" back yo the Borla. I could not believe the weight of the stock resonator and the muffler were! If the mileafe goes up I will use that as part of my defence of the project.
