Default Belt tensioner

Anyone have problem with belt tensioner, put brand new one on, and it's still rattling and makes noise, could the belt be stretched or tensioner bad? Tensioner is from dealership?
Thanks in advance

Relieve tension from the belt, I use a small punch in the hole to hold the tensioner up. Then slid the belt off or move it around so you can , by hand , turn an wiggle each pulley individually. See if any of the other bearing have abnormal movement.

I have done that I have replaced sc pulley, guide pulley, idler pulley, crank pulley, and now belt tensioner pulley, still getting rattling noise, from the movement from the belt tensioner, do u need a smaller belt to run 64.7mm sc pulley, or my belt has stretched.

A friend of mine just went through the same thing. Ended up being the AC compressor clutch. So much for a DIY fix on his ride.

Came to conclusion that my belt needs to be shorten by 9mm, to take in to account the 64.7mm sc pulley, does anyone know or been through this any help would be great

Water pump???
My water pump went out on me Sunday night on the way to work, and changed it in the hotel parking lot last night.

Started working on it after work at 5:30 and at 8:45 had the silver fox started

That's Kool change it in hotel parking lot, mine is the belt tensioner rattling cause belt is to long cause of smaller sc pulley, and tensioner is maxed out.

Yes, want to drive home tomorrow, not be stuck here.
Ah, that might do it, mine is a 6 spd so I don't have the s c to worry about.

How did you come up with the 9mm figure?
If you got it by the difference between the stock pulley and your pulley then you might have the wrong figure, the actual difference is between the radii of the two, which would be 4.5mm.
Frankly that would make little difference to your situation, are you sure that is where the problem lies? Maybe your crank pulley is coming apart and rotates off center causing the tensioner to wave about.

Stock pulley is 74mm and new smaller 64.7mm, crank pulley brand new, that's how I got 9mm shorter , belt tensioner is maxed out, unless the brand new
Belt tensioner I got from dealership is bad, belt needs to be a bit shorter

You missed my point entirely. Obviously the belt needs to be shorter, how much is the question. One size smaller belt would be a good guess.
Good luck.

Talked to rob needswing says there is no smaller belt, guess I a need psk or the brand new belt tensioner is gone bad, will try to find smaller belt 4.5mm shorter, I do appreciate the help, it seems like the tensioner is maxed out.

I figured it out I have a dayco belt which is length 2910
Gates is 2902
Continental is 2902
So the belt I'm using might work for factory sc pulley but be to long for smaller sc pulley

Most all that run a smaller SC pulley have a PSK and use Gates K081153; pretty sure. Rob at Needswings is your man for this.

Wouldn't think 3/16 of a inch would mater that much on a belt tensioner, a belt will stretch more than that in it's lifetime.

I've only ever used Gates K081145 belts. Put them on 5 different SRT-6 motors with anywhere from an OEM pulley down to a 62mm SC pulley, even one with a 178mm crank pulley...never had a problem. Four of the five had some sort of pulley saver/belt wrap kit. One LM21 BWK (me), two DIY kits (Thumper, Kim), and a NW PSK (customer). All still run the belt I put on without issue.

The 2910 number is the part number in centi meters, while the Gates 5081145 is an 8 rib, and 114.5" long. Both are the same. I give the shorter length belt above.
