I want to share...
So in the past week I have just had the best of luck and the SRT6 decided to have the supercharger pulley turn into a lawnmower. Driving back from out of town and still an hour out from home my car had its oil cooler line and air line sliced up and drained coolant everywhere (more of sprayed coolant all over the place).
Once towed home I opened her up and found all those issues. Originally thought the radiator just executed itself but then found the wonderful out come.
Now waiting on parts to arrive. Spoke with Latemodel21 and figured out what was all going on. So to keep this from happening I have a scatter shield on the way and hopefully all the lines that got chopped up.
Ordered all the lines to then find out that there is only 1 metal air line left in Germany and the oil cooler hose is in Germany. The other air line rubber hose is being searched for still but all should be good. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Once all lines have been replaced and coolant has been refilled it will be towed to Eurocharged to then get the pulley issue resolved.
Just thought everyone would enjoy a little reading to keep entertained.
Hope everyone is doing good!

Geez, I can't fathom how many pulley's are flying apart without warning! Lot's of opinions on it ...... holding my tongue as best I can. All I'll say is I went with a 178 when my aftermarket S/C pulley started falling apart at less than 1 year on my car.

Can the OEM pulley be shaved down to become a smaller pulley or is that not recommended? Im thinking maybe it would be best so shell out the money for a new OEM blower pulley shave it down to a 65mm to avoid the over spinning of your accessories with the 178 if that is even possible.
Several members here have modified an OEM pulley from a 74mm to 70mm, maybe (?) a 69mm. I believe anymore, and you're going to cut yourself thin on stock material for proper groove depth, and maintain strength.
I'm not sure if stock pulleys are thin cased hardened or not. If I ever remove mine for a bearing replacement, or pulley swap, I'm going to check with our Rockwell hardness tester just for kicks.

Yeah going to see if Eurocharged replaces it or if they think I should just go back to stock. I doubt they will say stock mainly cause that would mean faulty products from them. But here are the pictures as requested. It isn't really the pulley but more so the "doggones" I believe as they are called..

Ouch!
Rest assure, Chris's Scatter-shield design will further protect against damage like that down the road. Looks like a faulty rivet holding the dog-bone spring in place.
I believe other members have had their pulley replaced free by Eurocharged, without any hassles.

Well that sounds nice. Just waiting on parts from Germany to fix it and then tow it to Eurocharged so they just have to fix the sc pulley and get her running again. Sadly thats another week of waiting for them to find some of the parts in Germany. Just sitting on my hands right now....
Man this sucks to see, sorry about your troubles.
I wonder if there is a round about number of supercharger pulleys sold vs. pulleys that have failed. Obviously there can not be a ZERO failure rate on any mechanical device, but it would be nice to have a guesstimate % of pulleys that have failed.
With that said, I put a scatter shield on the same time as I did my pulley, nice to have a little comfort in the event it does fail.

This is the main reason that I had my SC pulley machined and only to 70mm, any smaller and I feel it would be taking a risk. One of the things that attracted me to this car was its' engine but I fear that we might be asking too much from it.

As the so called spring is not a spring and just a piece of metal that is thick enough to act as a spring for a while, you just have to compare its thickness to the OEM ones to see that. I expect the majority of these springs to fail pretty soon. The fatigue that they suffer will wreck them. Flexing metal slowly weakens it, even actual springs, because actual springs are made from the correct material and heat treated to give the correct properties they will last much longer.
I bet these springs are soft, there is no hint of heat treatment on them.
If the springs in these pulleys were heat treated the magnet would not be able to overcome the force required to bend them because they are so thick. That is assuming that the material is capable of being heat treated to vary its properties.
The scatter shield will save you some money no doubt, let's hope you are not too far away from home when the pulley craps out.

I suppose we should add the OEM pulley (and related tools to remove and replace) in the emergency kit.
That kit is getting awfully big and heavy.

In another 5 years you will also have to add the trailer hitch mod to hook up the motorcycle trailer so you can carry all the needed spare parts and tools with you .......
Explaining to the missus why there is no room for her in the car due to amount of spares requiring to be carried could become a problem.
