Default 0-100 times, race start, tires-need advice

Hey all, I wonder what are your 0-100 times, I see the time slip scans, where guys have 0-60ft 1.7-1.8 seconds generally, are these times on "drag glue"? at what RPM do you lunch? what tires do you use?

I'm asking these questions as in my country there is no proper drag strip, only a track where are held circuit racings also, so we don't have glue on our dragstrip just a common asphalt without any preparation for drag race. My 0-60 ft are poor, about 2.2-2.3, I start at about 1500RPM and I cant get 1/4 times lower than 12.1-12.2-s at a top speed of 117mph, I guess with a better start I can get a 12, or even high 11-s, now I'm considering to buy new tires, and need your advice what would be the best choice for me. thinking about mickey thompson r15, or r16 drag radials, but the exact model and advice would be very nice from you

Looking forward for your advices and sharing experience

Leaving off idle rolling into the throttle I constantly get high 1.8 60ft times on street tires

you mean on street tires, in street? what are your tire size and model and with what do you measure those high 1.8-s, if they are measured in street

you will want to get a set of 16" rear rims to mount some actual wrinkle wall slicks if you want to get into the 1.5-1.7 territory. or you can get some 17" wheels and go to a drag radial and cut 1.7-1.9's

I'll get 16-s but I want to know what size shall I go with, 255/50 r16 drag radials, or some bigger slick like mickey thompson, or hoosier soft compound drag slicks?

The slk32 uses a 24.7" tall rear tire versus the 26" tall rear tire on the crossfire.

MT nor Hoosier are showing anything in a 24.5" tall 16" or 17" tire

I have had our 26" tall slicks on our c32 which also uses a 24.7" tall factory tire and they worked fine for the little distance we drove with them.

yes indeed the slk appears to have lower overall diameter, I thought the srt had 25inch tall rear tires, as I was mistaken by our domestic car catalogue as the rear tires sizes for srt6 were written to be 225/35 R19, that's 25 tall. now I looked in other tire size guides and found out they are 255/35 )) but again I think 26 would be great as several slk-s according dragtimes are running 255/50 R16 drag radials and they are 26 tall, and wont be much problem with fitting them in my fenders also I guess. I used to run 23X10.5 15 avon motorsports slicks but they're old now, so I'd like to find a better substitute to them for the next season and beat the 12-s at last ))

Remember my friend. Once you go to a 16" wrinkle wall, the handling will change. Be ready to drive it down the track. Once you get use to them, it will come naturally but, those first few runs...well, it can be a handful. LOL.....

you mean the car will try to go sideways, because of the higher and softer rubber?

I know you guys are talking about the strip but i need help on the street. I just suck from a dig. I've got a dcai, 65 sc pulley, and ecu tune and running sumitomo 255 rear summer tires which is most likely the problem. I feel like im at the limit for power for my traction level. I've almost been embarrassed by a base jeep cherokee and a cadillac escalade because all i do i spin through 1st, 2nd, and the first part of 3rd and that's with me trying to feather the gas, but still hit it hard. I've also raced and beat my friend in his camaro ss. He would beat me off the line every time, but I'd catch him by about 50-60 mph and then walk him by about 5-6 car lengths around 1/4 mile. I usually brake launch too, but it doesn't seem to help much. Not sure if i should get winter tires or what would help.

I run a summer compound 285/30/19 and still roast the tires. I good set of drag radials will help your problem. They are street legal. When you want to play just put on the slicks.

Sounds like you car will be at a police auction! I will be sure to buy it for a discounted price. Make sure you upgrade your brakes for me!

I have said all along, had the wavetrac been available when I first bought into these cars, it would have been my first mod. Makes the car behave like a car should. I don't like open diffs at all. I highly recommend the wavetrac to anyone wanting more performance off the line.

I forgot to say that all this took place in mexico. Now, don't drag radials still need to be warmed up to be effective? I was looking at 275 rear tires and the wavetrac for my next mods. Kinda want the supercooler too though for the summer, but not sure how big of a difference that is gonna make for the 90 degree and up days.
