Default 62 mm install, now having issues

Hi Guys,

Had this great idea the other day while my buddy and I were hanging out in the garage. Why not install the 62 mm pulley???

Well we installed it and now I'm hearing some funny noises. He described it as a boost leak, whereas to me it sounds more like a "sucking" noise (Intake sucking air, not the other sucking noises).

Things I've noticed:
1) No major increase in performance. Probably due to the belt slipping?? looking into Tighed1 DIY Belt Wrap.

2) The sucking noise, or boost leak as my buddy described it. How well do the metal intake gaskets hold?? I did remove my intake manifold to check for a leaking intercooler and reused the factory gasket.

3) I got on the car once, right after the install. It acted like the IC pump was bad (which I know is not the case, I recently replaced it). After getting on it, it lost a lot of power, delay in throttle response, couldn't feel no boost.

I need to stop tinkering with my cars.

Thanks for the help gentleman!

Oh, no I didn't. Anyone have a part number?
Edit: found it needs wings site.

if I buy the belt now, and buy a psk in the future, will I need to replace the belt again?
I think the answer is yes I just want to confirm.

Yes, when you order the PSK needswings is going to ask what current pulley you have on your car so he can supply you the right belt. Belt slippage means boost loss.

I put the 62mm from Eurocharged on with their computer tune. Also the DCAI
and a new belt from Needswings. Runs great a major increase in performance.

Did you upgrade your fuel pump and tune for it? It may starve for fuel on the top of the rpm band. Which means the car will die out.
You will need a belt rap kit. Latemodel21 or Needswings.
Metal gaskets can break down over time. Try new gaskets with some copper spray. Torque to 7ftlbs I go 8, but 7 recommended.

My fuelmpump has been upgraded. Hopefully in the near future manifolds and injectors upgrade and maybe the exhaust.

Definitely out of the window now lol

Olddoc2u - I did not upgrade the fuel pump, I know I run out of fuel on the top of the rpm band. I never got it on that much, but I do have an sl55 fuel pump and NW fuel filter. Would the DIY Belt wrap work or is the LM21/NW a must??

So far I need a belt wrap kit and new manifold gaskets with copper spray.

Thanks guys!

Have been running the tighed1 DIY belt wrap for over 9 years on both my SRTs.
No issues.

I'm glad you posted, I was considering PM'ing you. What size pulley are you running? Do you think I will have a problem with a 62mm pulley?

Thanks bud!! Awesome DIY!!

Forgot about DJ's kit...I might still have his. I went to needswings when I put the 62 mm on.... Any of the 3 work well.... DJ's is a lot cheaper...lol.

21's is prettier, Rob's works, and DJ's is the cheapest... they all get the job done....

LM21's kit will give the most belt wrap and look the best, along with costing the most. I can't get behind the NW PSK because it removes a pulley completely and generally means a different size belt. We run a DIY BWK on the black roadster with no issues. The LM21 BWK has held up to 50+ runs at the track with no issues to speak of either.
