Lights
Simply put have you had trouble with water getting into the trunk?
I see you have an SRT, they are fomous for water leaks, through a failed O-ring seal at the base of the spoiler mounts and by waypter getting passed the poor seal around the spoiler mounting.
Water in the well wrecks the security module causing it to operate poorly.
You can slide a taper of paper between the foam and the steel of the well and see if it gets wet.

The lights do not turn off until the battery is disconnected. I will check the trunk for leaks, I haven't noticed any in the past.
Thanks for the suggestion. The car was always kept in the garage until our house burned down December 16. It now sits outside the apartment until our house is rebuilt.
We bought the car in 2007.
