Smallest Rims that will Fit?
I'm looking to put some winter tires on my car and finding a matched set is much easier and cheaper. I know that 18" will fit all the way around. Will 17" or even 16" rims fit over the breaks and other suspension parts?
Are you trying to save money by going smaller? If not, I would consider going with four 18 inch steel rims that the seller guarantees will fit. You can get steel for significantly less than alloy wheels.
Also, your speedo will be off by a smaller margin.

The 2004 SLK32 (AMG model) had stock 17" Aluminum wheels as standard equipment from the factory. The front brake rotors were larger (345 vs. the Crossfire 330), so the 17" wheel will work for the Crossfire, using a tire with a 55 or 60 sidewall size aspect.

Unfortunately the SLK32 was a very rare model (equivalent to SRT-6). However AFAIR a SLK320 and a Crossfire use the same front brake rotors so the '98-'04 SLK230/320 16' rims should fit.
OTOH the '04-'09 SLK350 came with 17s stock and the base SLK280 came with 16s. After '09 the SLKs went to a 14mm lug bolt.

Thanks everyone. I'm looking for used wheels that will fit with snow tires. 16" are pretty easy to find. 17" & 18" are seeming more difficult. I don't want to spend money on 16s and find out that they won't clear the breaks or something.
