Okay, cool. Please keep us all posted. I'm hoping to pick up an SRT6 some time down the line, and want to see how that all works out.

My srt-6 has the same sort of sound. 1st I thought it was the lifters as well, but now it seems to be more related to the supercharger...I got the same response at dealer...sounds normal to me. I have the extended warranty, and the cars I drove at the srt experience sounded the same as my car.

I've got every answer in the book from my dealership so I know that they were guessing. Also with them going cheap on the standard powertrain (3yr/36k) I'm not going to take any chances.
What doesn't make sense with the supercharger "it's normal" theory is why it is so loud at idle and very low RPM's. Besides there being no load on the supercharger, mine is very rhythmic...too rhythmic...so unless something in the supercharger assembly is clicking, broken, etc. I don't think it's the supercharger itself. My experience is with the C32's which I have drove many...all without any sort of clicking noise noted...

Why is the powertrain warranty 3/36 instead of 7/70??

So if the car drives fine why worry about a tick. I've had plenty of new cars that had "ticks" including my 1989 Sterling 827 SLi, which I bought in 90'. That is an Acura Legend motor which was pretty bullet proof and its still running strong almost 15 years tick and all. In fact, I've never put a penny into that car other than oil changes and gas and one timing belt change in 15 years. Maybe everyone is being overly critical. I don't know.

Doubt it. A $50k new car shouldn't tick.

I emailed a dealer about the warranty issue; here's the response...

The standard Crossfire has 3/36,000 bumper to bumper & 7/70,000 powertrain. The SRT'S do not.

I test drove a srt-6 today, and heard that same tick with 78 miles on the odo.

Has anyone checked the ground wires?

Sometimes the solution to a tick like that is to upgrade the ground wires/or just tighten them down.

Couldn't cause the problems stated above...but good guess.

Unfortunately I haven't had my car for a while now since the transmission, which was first just leaking badly, has turned into a transmission failure. Either way I have had my car in and out of the shop over 4 different times now and with 20 and counting days out of service for just this problem.

So currently, I'm working with the state's attorney's office with my "Lemon".

It's an SLK32 AMG...I'd have taken it to a local M/B dealership rather than a Chrysler dealership that's never seen on of these cars in their shop before.

Best of luck though.

Yep, very familiar with the history. I actually traded in one of my M.B.'s on this since where I recently moved made the long drive to the closest M.B. dealership a royal pain. Having a decent hx. with MB. vehicles I thought I could get the best of both worlds (M.B. parts/local service from Chrysler)...but unfortunately my theory hasn't seem to work out to plan...

Have you actually gotten the MB dealership to work on your car? I'm in the opposite position. I literally live right down the road from an MB dealership and the D/C place is 45 minutes away.

Let's get this thread back on track...

Was at Laguna Seca raceway this saturday for the SRT Track Experience. The info that I got from one of the race car instructors in regards to the SRT6 is it has not been discontinued. The MB engine will be replaced a V8 Hemi. However, the SRT-4 will be discontinued.

I haven't heard about dropping in a V-8 (wouldn't it be an SRT-8 then?) but I as well heard from a dealer that the Neon/SRT-4 are getting dropped from the line-up.
