Thinking of upgrading to SRT6
Hi there.
I'm thinking of trading in my roadster for an SRT6, but here in England it is practically impossible to get a test drive.
Can anybody sum up the driving experience? I'm sure it will accelerate hard and brake well, but what is the overall driving experience like?

I've tried 3 dealers, but none of them are getting the SRT-6. Seems like they are getting ready for the 300C and for the Dodge brand coming to the UK.
You could try to get a drive in the old AMG SLK32 to get a feel for the power etc. There must be a Merc dealer trying to shift them now the new SLK is available.

I was lucky enough to get a 48 hour test drive, accelerates hard, and brakes hard lots of power. The drawback is that the ride is not as comfortable as the Xfire Limited. If you have a bad back, you will have to invest in some additional cushioning. I love my Roadster Limited and if I had to make a choice between the Xfire SRT and the 300c SRT8, I would opt for the SRT8 more power and less money, I was lucky enough to get a 48 hour test drive on the SRT8 also.

The SRT-8 is a great car if you need/want 4-doors. If you are willing to part with 2 of them, I suggest the SRT-6. What you loose in space you gain in the handling dept. for us that enjoy spirited driving that sometimes involves a curve or two.

Since on my computer it lists this topic as "Thinking of upgrading to an SRT6" don't see where if comparsions are going to be made, it's wrong to assume one should compare apples to apples...

And I totally agree with you, on most topics.
But the srt-8 or srt-6, I would have to think long and hard about that. The srt-8 is a bit quicker, but the srt-6 has killer looks. The srt-8 is way more comfortable, and the srt-6 has killer looks:-D The looks are important. But all in all sad to say I would be leaning towards the SRT-8 if i had the choice. But would have to wait to see how good they respond to bolt on's.
BTW: Everyone has a problem with me because, I don't live in the pseudo-reality of the crossfire is the best all-time vehicle produced. The SRT-6 is a great car but for the price point, i would lean towards A BMW M3 or C6. At least the srt-6 performs though.
its not an insult, i was just correcting him. the guy was comparing the regular crossfires to the srt-8, not the srt-6 as repsdoc quoted him. you have said you would choose an m3 over the srt-6 100 times, why tell people they are choosing the wrong car when they want it? no one cares what you would choose, just choose it and stop bit*hing about the crossfire. no one says it the greatest car ever made, we just enjoy it. your the biggest troll i have ever seen im my life.
btw i don't insult, you do. you just insulted some guy and his wife in some way, kwitki or something, accused another guy of spousal abuse, and on and on and on. you make personal attacks, i just point out the stupidity of peoples comments regarding the cars discussed.

I understand why you don't like this guy because, he keeps on bringing up the SRT-6. It's called envy. It's not his fault he has the means to make the decision into buying a SRT-6 instead of the base crossfire. Don't attack him for it.
like i said i don't insult on the internet, that's just how i talk. i don't create a tough internet persona because nothing can be resolved on the internet, just becomes a war of worlds i just choose to ignore. you choose to end them for your own reasons, i'm sure you have some, i think its a waste of time. i wouldn't get outta my crossfire because its the best car i can afford. i pay way less than i would on an srt4 not even accounting for the insurance. and i don't dislike repsdoc, i just think he needs to not knock people for wanting to mod regular crossfires because its not his money, and i don't like how you put down a car people want to buy. your probably the most snide internet poster i have ever seen, and i see you chose to ignore the fact you once accused someone of being a wife beater. i don't want to get into anything, because like i said, its will just be a words thing, not the way i handle things which is in actual life. i just make sure to remind people like you and repsdoc that believe it or not, we are capable people of making our own choices and yes we do like our cars and want to do with them what we want.

So when your talking about changing rear gears, camshaft changes, etc. these are great mods on the right vehicle. The base Crossfire esp. for someone where this might be there first car and who's vehicle might be there only means of getting around...is NOT the right vehicle. When you then combine it with the chance of decreasing the above engines main strong point along with the fact these upgrades by themselves will add very little to the car's overall ability, these mods would seem to be logical for only a very small group of people. While you seemed to have your views on this, others and esp. new owners might not have or understand the whole picture...what I have done was to give them the other side to the story...they can make up there own minds from there...
So basically if your willing to say a mod is worthwhile, be prepared to back it up with some hard facts...if you have a lack thereof...maybe you need to find out why that is...

Wow tough crowd…This has nothing to do with the original topic but here goes.
I bought my 04' crossfire for $23,000 which is a lot less than a SRT6 no matter how you look at it.
Yes I will mod the car because I mod everything cars, guns, tools, ect.
It is in my nature and in the nature of most car guys I know.
We are well aware that if we wanted to smoke people light to light in straight line acceleration runs we bought the wrong car!!! This will not stop me or other from looking into ways of improving our rides.
We are aware that the crossfire is not the best car at any one thing but is a good fun compromise with style.
Just remember that modifying cars is a hobby and that most of the fun is coming up with ways to make our rides well, OURS!!
I am aware the mods I do is money never to be seen again, It is very possible to make the car worth less money than it was stock.
I do it because it is a passion and I am sure I am not the only one!
I have a PT cruiser my wife drives that I spent 30 hours on custom wood like paint, plus chrome bumpers, fake lake pipes, ect Why? Because I can!!!

that's the exact way i feel, if we want to mod our cars, why would someone tell us not to? your bought a crossfire, shoulda bought a leftover c5 or z06 if that's how you wanna go about things. you buy the car you like, and then you mod it, that's what some people like to do.
Bullseye, Nobody is upset with you because you don't think the Xfire is the "best" People get upset with you because you continuously want to prove to people that they are idiots for loving their Xfire Limiteds because, they don't do the quarter in 12 seconds.
I've owned faster cars yes, I've owned much more expensive cars yes. I'm having lots of fun with my Xfire despite its lack of straight line speed even though the car is no slow by any means.
Its the all around package that I love.
So please stop trying to paint us as pie in the sky thinkers. You love you SRT4 because its fast. I think its a tiny little Neon with power which looks ridiculous and is not a car for a grown man to be driving. Now of course that's just my opinion.
See we can both make abrasive comments.
