I completely understand, I learn that way too. I guess common problems would be the place to locate headliner issues/ corrections.

Good of you to point it out that it could be found in that section. I wouldn’t have thought of that. Were you able to locate the link in “common problems” that would assist MP3 ?

[QUOTE=mp3wizard;976083]thanks, I got insurance for 239 dollars, it's the road tax that is the killer here its 440 dollars per year, if it was a 2006 year or newer then it would increase to 748 dollars per year.

When I go to collect it Saturday, I'm going to take a few clothes pegs & scissors and decide how I'm going to stop the headliner sagging, I may just cut it off and get it reupholstered, I was thinking a tan or red material might look quite good

Wow, when I left the UK, I think road tax was 25 pounds, and that was across the board. No difference for engine size/year etc.
I don't think I could afford to live there now.........................

Initially buying tags for all of your vehicles when you come into FL is a bit heartbreaking, especially when you have a fleet like me (I brought 10 cars in when we moved here nearly a decade ago).

in the 70's i had over 100 cars in my name at one time,, Oh back then a year tag was $12.00 btw i got a letter from Tallahassee saying being that i have owned over 100 cars in one year i need a dealer license and a lot. i replied all the cars i own are American Motors AMX, if you notice all the serial numbers are the same except for the last 6 numbers which is the serial number of that car it shows that all the cars are the same model. I have all of them tagged and insurance ,i collect the car AMX and yes i have over 100 at this time Oh my wife collects stamps she has over 4000 does she also need a license also.,,
never heard another word from them.
note: I had a ins co that said we insure you and the car while driving and the car while parked on as many cars that you own,,
,wish i could get that insurance today

Added to that, here is the US Hagerty insurance is only $300 a year, with agreed value, for all that performance
I just signed up with Hagerty as well, best decision I’ve made with this car as far as insurance goes.

No, my MS tags for the XF are only about $45 a year, although we do pay an ad valorem tax. I was quoting the OP, who is in the UK, but it didn't appear as a quote.......................
I was commenting on the fact that his road tax was hundreds of dollars today, as it was only 25 ish when I left.
Sorry for the confusion......

Did you buy an agreed value policy? If so how much is it mind me asking and what value did you insure the SRT for? Thanks very much for letting me know.

Is that per month? 6 months? What state lol. I'll just have to give them a call cause I know every state is different and coverages are different also I was just curious to see what range we are playing in. I'd insure it for same, probably 15K-18K depending on price difference.
Thanks for your input!

I'm almost there now with my restoration, So far I've reupholstered the headlining and a pillars with alcantara style trim, was a bit of a nightmare but got there in the end, I just can't get the b pillar clips in, think I'll need to remove it and see if I've broken some of the clips as it won't stay flush.

I refitted the windscreen surround trim as it was raised on one side, turns out some of the metal holding clips weren't operational so it was raised on one side as they put too much adhesive to hold it down, and there was also a missing rubber piece on the roof, so I think water may of been penetrating into the headlining, there was also a whistling noise where the wind was blowing underneath the bottom of the top of the windscreen surround trim and coming out the otherside, I refitted all flush and siliconed in black underneath and above the trim and it's stopped whistling now.

One of the mountings for the dome light was broken, so repaired that, the aftermarket stereo was crackly, pulled up the passengers carpet and was sopping wet, I dried best I could in situ and replaced the amplifier and this sorted out my audio problems, I performed the clean of the drain off area by the bonnet by removing trim/wipers etc to clean leaves, thought that was the culprit, but after leaving the car out in rain it's all wet again, on closer inspection I think my plastic trim is broken near the passenger side allowing water to pentrate, can you please confirm?

I also have a bulb out light when lights are on, checked every light and I can see that neither of the parking lights are working (front or back) I'm thinking that perhaps the previous owner disabled or removed a fuse for these as normally it's a natural instinct to turn the lights off completely too the left, not in the middle, obviously leaving parking lights on and allowing your battery to drain. Perhaps parking lights might be an american thing as I've had lots of cars and have never seen parking lights on any other car apart from this one.

Also fitted a new battery as it wasn't starting after not driving for a few weeks, starts everytime now, all in all quite satisfying to bring the car back from the dead, gave it a quick wash yesterday, still need to do some detailing but it's getting there.

After taking it out yesterday it's still quite a attention grabber even almost 20 yrs later, the de-badging by previous owner probably increases that, The reactions from some people are quite funny, they really don't have a clue what it is.

One final question, are my wheels standard? or have they been restored and treated with something as they appear different to other srt6's I've seen, and also the brake lights, they are treated with some kind of darkening spray? as there's no tint on them.

cheers

Nice job on the interior trim pieces and headliner!, Yes your cowl trim has a piece broken off from the end. You are correct the tail light lens have been tinted and the wheels appear to have been painted graphite. Your side strakes, door handles and windshield trim have been painted black, I like it!

thanks for confirming, I'll try and source a cowl trim now then, hopefully this will be enough to stop the water getting in.

Hi bluecoupe,

This would be the correct replacement for this problem wouldn't it?

A Windshield Wiper Cowl Cover Trim Panel 170 831 01 44

I've seen it advertised as a Crossfire & SLK320 part, i'm guessing either one is a universal fit?

thanks for your help.

Yes, Sir it appears to be the right the one. Maybe it's just the photo but the rubber "fingers" seem to have come away on the left side or the right hand drive spec is a little different? It's a good opportunity to do the wiper insulator mod while you are at it. Also it appears that your wiper blade on the passenger side is too long.
