srt6 ignition
Hello everyone, New here had question 2005 srt6 key broke in ignition, Got used ignition wih key when installed will i still have to have it reprogrammed, Thanks in advance any info would appreciated.
If you got a used ignition switch and key, just take the blade from the key you bought and put it in the FOB that came with the car.
OR take the RFID chip out of your car's OLD key and glue it into the key from the donor car. The RFID chip in the key is mated to the SKREEM.
Once you do that, the start enable will work. Easy.
NOW, to program the unlock/lock function, if you are using the FOB from the other car, simply program that function like this:
Get in car, close door.
Put key in, do NOT turn.
Press lock or unlock twice.
Turn key to "ON" but do not start, turn back to OFF.
Remove key and try the lock/unlock functions. Might take 2-3 tries to get it to 'take'.

You can only do that procedure to sync with a brand new key or a key that was previously programmed to that car and too many buttons were pushed while it had no batteries inside.
You cannot lock and unlock a car from a key fob from another car, it cannot be synced again one time only.

Some 3 or 4 years later, I ran the key to the SE thru the laundry. I took the blade and RFID chip out, put them in the one FOB I had from the Graphite put in new batteries, and am driving the car with that FOB today.
It took maybe five attempts, but it synced. Locks and unlocks fine.
He's probable done this, oh, 200, 300 times now....
