Default Maybe coming back....thoughts on price?

I had a white crossfire (6 speed coupe) back in 2004-2008. I had an ECU chip and illuminated sills. I liked that car a lot. I sold it when my daughter was born for obvious reasons and picked up an IS350.

However, now I am considering picking up a 2005 SRT6 Roadster which will obviously be faster but I am worried the market is pricing these too high. What does everyone feel is reasonable for an SRT6 roadster in good condition with say less than 50k miles on it?

This would be just for summer and weekends. To me it may be worth it because of brining back a car I loved. I currently have a VW ID.4 so I can haul the family in that this is just a second car.

I'd plan on getting some Needs Wings DCAI and exhaust probably maybe tune...

Well, considering only 3739 were built worldwide and they are supercharged I'd say they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. 50K is very low milage. More coupes than roadsters were built, and they produce 330 HP.

I think we may be at, or slightly past the bottom of the curve on prices for these. Roadsters always cost more, and cost more to own than coupes. Bear that in mind.

so to be clear you think prices will go up from here? To me that would be good. I doubt it will ever be like a Shelby cobra but you never know.

It will never be a Shelby Cobra, simply because there is no cult of personality that was Carroll Shelby, and there are just way too many Crossfires out there. I think we will see prices slowly, but steadily rise for all but the most clapped out examples.

I concur. I don't see the prices continuing to drop except for beaters but I do not see much in the way of rising value. Find one in good condition first, then do some KBB searches to establish a baseline.

I think we still have some years to go before even the nicest examples reach the original selling price number, and even further until they reach the original price adjusted for inflation. They will beat both of those numbers one day, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

There is strong evidence for that assertion. My only question would be: What effect will an "adjustment" in the housing market mean for the price of what is essentially a "collectors" or "rare" car like the SRT6 in the coming few years?

Given there are so few of them, I doubt there will be any real effect, even if the housing market suffers badly in some areas (it's not going to suffer in ALL areas, not this time.)

To answer his question, I think $14,000 to $18,000 would be in the ballpark for an SRT Roadster with under 50,000. I think the days of the $22,000 SRT Roadster are over, for now, anyway. BUt since Im not shopping for one, I may be off....

Check out Bring a Trailer.com auction to see what low mileage SRT-6s have gone for in recent years.

I still think that car is the best kept secret (to our advantage). Not sure what will happen in the future and who knows. If I had to guess, if there is a collectors price ever, it would be for the rare models (SRT-6 Roadster...maybe even the few 2006 models).
Don't think the housing market has any correlation to the value of the SRT though.

Two different sources give the following inflation/adjustment figures for an initial 2005 dollar price amount as $72,490 and $74,862 I stand firm on my statement that the Crossfire is the 'best bang for the buck' among sports cars. Just look at the original price vs replacement cost. Nothing is recession proof and age is the variable that most impacts resale value. Having said that; rarity, equipment/trim levels (model type) are very important factors along with PERFORMANCE. Watch today's auctions (Mecum, Barrett-Jackson, etc) all high performance cars bring top dollar vs same car with less HP (small block) Everything fun in life costs money. As a previous owner buying/selling and price point should be familiar. There currently are three excellent SRT's on Ebay (not to mention all the other sources) with very low mileage selling from 20-22K You make your money when you 'buy'(applies to anything), [buy it right/sell it right] Good luck with your decision to "return" --CFK

One has to also ask himself for what reason are you buying? If I am buying as an investment, the Crossfire might not be a great idea (could still be down the road but doesn't look like it right now).
I Bought the SRT Roadster w/25,000 on it last year in phenomenal shape. So much that I almost felt afraid to touch anything lol. Then I thought about it and realized why? I bought this car to have fun...enjoy it....drive it. It's not my daily driver has almost 34,000 miles on the clock. To me it's also a lifestyle....do I want to drive a Toyota Camry to work everyday or enjoy the commute on my Crossfire?

As for the current prices...the car is worth as much as it is worth to you. If you find a model that was immaculate like mine, owned by a previous forum member who only garages it and already replaced all the little kinks (CPS, Relay, issues with then trunk locking mechanism etc), maybe it is worth over 20K to you. But only you can answer that question....or just spend a lot less and drive around in the Toyota Camry lol

I used to restore classic cars and show them at car shows. Whenever asked what they were worth I always said, "$200.00 scrap metal or whatever you are willing to pay".

that old information is still out there. It was the very same motor that went into the slk 32 349 hp confirmed by the engineers who built it Chrysler was ordered to lie.
Anyway my roadster can be bought so can my coupe. Those extras you see many are no longer available if you are into performance. They have only been tracked for times for tuning. Both in excellent shape. Roadster has a new top. Coupe has a new headliner. I have many new spare parts. Like two new inner coolers, overflow tanks, stock pulleys, code 3 pulley no longer made. Make me a serious offer for either. They are rare as modded. Won’t see this come around very often. 38746 mi on the roadster 30,200 on the coupe.

Are there any numbers by model and color. Example... how many red SE roadsters for each year. Thanks!
