Crossfire Drifter
Chrysler is claiming 400 hp for the Drifter concept using the same supercharged 3.2l as the SRT-6. Any idea what they did to obtain the extra 70 hp.

It's a Renntech 3.5L custom engine kit. This was from last year's SEMA show. The car never ran (competed) a day in it's short lived life... Renntech wants $20k + for the 400 HP complete new engine set-up... LOL
Don't get too excited...

HDDP when you say $20K+ do you mean for a complete engine all ancillaries etc?
My company got quoted $9K plus fitting for a new stock replacement 2.5l Turbo Diesel in a Nissan pickup truck (main dealer). It was a replacement for one that had excessive wear at only 80K miles, in the end we dropped in a low mileage engine from an accident damaged pickup. for less the a grand all done.

Hey malcb: I was talking about the complete Renntech 400 hp motor that they previously advertised on their website... I'm not sure where it went, it looks like they're doing a re-work on their website... That was the motor they put in the "Crossfire Drifter" for the 2004 SEMA show... My buddies from NCCA told me the car never ran because they didn't have time to finish it before the show and they pushed it into the showroom...
Andrew: That's funny... It says SCCA Formula D rules approved. The SCCA has only spec'd the Crossfire for SOLO to this date... I guess they're referring to the general Formula D spec. not the specifics for the Crossfire which have not been established as of yet.
In those broad SCCA classification terms, I could class the Crossfire in SCCA GT(1) GT(2) GT(3) and build it to something completely insane and still fit within the general parameters of the class...
The boys from the National Custom Car Assn. mentioned to me that they saw the car last year at SEMA and spoke with the reps. from DC. The car was one-off and hadn't been finished. The engine tuning was supposed to be done by Renntech, but was not completed by the time the show started and they were basing the performance on a supposed performance spec. that Renntech had promised them.
Only passing on information I got from my cohorts... This was a show car that never got completed for racing purposes... This is what I heard from my guys... We have yet to find a Crossfire that has been tricked-out... You would think that the person or company that does do a 400 HP Crossfire would be posting like heck on this website to promote the product and or products that they sell to make the HP...
It's still smoke and mirrors as far as I'm concerned...

HDDP, your US$ prices always look cheap from this side of the sea, I think it's mostly because we pay so much more for the car, ie if you spend $60K on an SRT6 in the UK the idea of a Crossfire and a Renntech 400 bhp conversion for say another $25K looks good. If we import I think duty on engines is about 6% then you have to add sales tax of 17.5%.
