Thumbs up Aluminum engine polishing

I would really like to polish the aluminum covers with the srt 6 on them. I believe they are the fuel injectors covers and the are in need of a good cleaning the car came out of michigan and there is salt residue on them. Has any one done this or could give me some info.

It'll take a lot of time and polishing materials like, sanding belt(s), various compounds, various buffer wheels etc. It might actually be cheaper to pay a shop to do it once you look at how much materials you would have to buy [assuming you don't have any]. Plus you would most likely be happy with the results that a professional polisher can produce.

You might get some people suggesting not to perform this as the rough cast finish aids in heat dissipation. Once you polish them they won't be able to dissipate the heat as well anymore.

Also those aluminum pieces are actually part of the intake manifold, not injector covers.

But man they would look cool if they were either polished or chromed.

You could also paint them. I found this photo on a photographers website (see attached). This is a nice subtle detail that really looks trick... and it's cheap!

There was someone who painted the SRT6 logo on top as well. SRT in Black then made a red rectangle around the six which he left polished. Looked very nice.
