Default Practice makes perfect Jealous crossfire owner

I have become the addict I always knew I was when it comes to detailing my SRT. This weekend I took my rubbing compund, polisher and other supplies to Cape Coral.....Mother's birthday and had family in town. I decided that I would be a good son and detail her 2002 Impala.

Even I was impressed. The paint felt like silk after 2-3 hours of sweat. Not bad for a rookie with the right equipment and supplies.

I had to rub it in a bit to the neighbor. The neighbor across the street has an 05 blaze red lmt XF. When I went to his house he had a new H2 sitting in the driveway, so it gave me something to talk about to have him show me his new toy. His wife drives the XF. He also has a Prowler in the garage, so you know he is a car guy. As we were talking, I casually walked over to the crossfire and started talking about what I did to Ashley's SRT. As I was admiring his wifes XF, I was feeling the paint. (Yes I am a sick puppy) He saw this and said he had just washed it. Talk about setting him up for the fall........

I told him to rub the paint which he did and asked him if he had a couple of minutes so I could show him some pictures on the computer of mine and Ashley's SRT's. On the way to the house I said check out what I did to my mother's 6 year old Impala........... He did the rub test and could not get over how silky and smooth it felt. He proceeded to walk around the entire car and kept commenting about the wax job and what I had done to make it feel like this. GOTCHA

Between the Crossfire forum detailers and watching the guys at the body shop next to my office, I have become my own worst nightmare. But, I got to tell you the expression on JR's, the neighbor, face when he was touching the 6 yo paint was priceless.

After showing him the pictures we went back outside and he started asking me about what I had done and what supplies I had used. I showed him the 3M rubbing coumpound, then the second polishing compound, then the glaze wax and the buffer. I think he was taking notes. LOL It is always good to educate and help others.............Kind of like the Crossfire Forum.

PS He thought Ashley's SRT looked great.

I had a funny experience just the opposite as rmaderman, my wife had a friend over for a visit and I was in the driveway washing and waxing my ride as usual and noticed that her Impala was a mess. The tires were so filthy that you couldn't even see that they were whitewalls. ( yes whitewalls, tells you how long ago this happened) I completely washed and detailed her vehicle and it looked great.

When she left I expected her to come out and be completely amazed. Instead she came out and said goodbye, drove off and didn't even notice. Maybe she was the smart one and didn't even give a **** how her car looked. Go figure !

When she got home, her husband noticed and it took them both a quite while to figure out what happened.
