Default Door Guard

I just recently bought an Xfire, and I noticed that the door guard on the drivers side appears to have a little rust on it. What is the door guard made out of, and what should I use to clean it?

Door guard? Is this something the previous owner installed? I don't have any door guards on my car, unless I'm not understanding the part you're talking about.

Ahhhh. Sillplates. Mine have rust colored stains too. Brushed aluminum and I haven't found a way to remove the stains without marring the aluminum.

Let us know...

Tom, have you checked out the rubber seals under your doors? The rust stain you're talking about may be coming from that location. Check out this thread for futher info.

I checked under my doors and pulled out the rubber seal and thankfully there is no rust. The rust must be from the kickplate.

wash these kick plates when u wash your cars exterior, then wipe it dry with a cotton towel. The key to keeping them from rusting is to keep them clean & dry. Enjoy your crossfire!!!

If you are still under warranty the dealer will replace them, mine did.

The dealer will replace them? How bad do they have to be to get them to?

Mine were lightly stained - a couple of spots smaller than a quarter.
I even said "maybe I am being too picky...." they did not even question it, just ordered and replaced them.
