Default Roadster Top Protector

I tried MEGUIARS CONVERTIBLE WEATHERPROOFER as i could'nt get 303 PROTECTOR and I am totally surprised at the outcome......

My roof used to soak up the rain (it does that a lot here in Scotland) and looked kinda faded when dry. I applied 2 coats of the MEGUIARS on the one off day that it was dry and this morning it was raining and the water is just beading and no longer soaking into roof.....
So good.......

I find that anything they makes works well - now, I haven't bought EVERYTHING they make, but so far am impressed.

I did mine with 303 last week and sprayed the hose on it, had water bead up in drops the size of DIMES! (About the diameter of a big man's finger!)

Reports are that the 303 will last up to a year. Let us know when you have to treat the top again, ok???

Just an FYI to all you Yanks out there - this product is a Meguiar's International ONLY product and is not available in the US. Yet.

I'm lobbying hard though!!!!

Hi Mike. I realize your top application is not available in the USA but which is better in your experience -- 303 or Ragg Top.

Both are good products. I prefer 303, and I have never seen a negative comment by anyone on this forum that has used it.

Both are excellent but you may have better luck sourcing the 303 locally if you have a large marine supply store in your area. West Marine generally carries the 303 canvas protectant.

I made the mistake of buying 303 cleaner and protector from an Auto Supplier, and didn't know 303 makes 2 protectors. They didn't have the convertable top protector kit which I will order before spring. What I used looked good on my top, but no dime size water beads.

Go to any marina or marine supply house (boat us/west marine) and you can get 303 in three different size containers all the way up to a gallon.

As I said I went to Auto Value and purchased 303 Aerospace Protectant
303 Cleaner & Spot Remover. The cleaner worked fine and the Protectant did not make dime sized water. My only point is that some stores don't know there is a different 303 for convertable tops, and that included myself. I know better now.

Have a case (8) of 303 32oz canvas top protectant spray bottles the way from autogeek.com.

Between my roadster and the wifey's Jeep Liberty with the full canvas top sunroof, I figure we'll use 2 or 3.

I'll be glad to sell the rest to Xfire ragtop owners at the Spring Dragon or Dream Cruise for my cost of $16 per bottle.

Hurry Spring!

Just an update. I bought the 303 kit for the top. I used the top cleaner and was amazed at the results. The previous owner had gotten polish/wax on the bottom and this cleaner took it all away. It looks like a new top. I have to wait till the Spring to put the protector on --- too cold up here and I only heat the garage to about 45 to 50.

Just an aside. Mike told me about a Meg's product for the rubber trim under the top in the rear. It was Gold Class Trim Detailer. Had to order it since no one in town had it. BUT that 303 cleaner really did a great job in preping it. It really cleaned it up. You may want to try this and then use the Trim Detailer.

Want to keep her fantastic.
