Default Outside Trim Molding Dressing

My 1993 SSGT (Suzuki Swift GT) has outside trim molding around windows & doors that's really starting to look 'dried out'. So I was contemplating how to 'dress up' these places and got the idea to use black paste shoe polish. Picked up a can at the nearby Family Dollar store yesterday evening. Applied the paste shoe polish on the PS rear pop-out window and WALLAH - molding looks like new!!! You'd have to get really close to see that the trim is as old as the car. I'm going to move along with my 'dressing' this afternoon and see how things turn out.
