Default Hazing on the paint

Hello everyone:

I've had my car for about 2 months now and the only type of detailing it has had done to it was from the dealer. I wouldn't even consider it a detail because it was probably just some summer help - a punk kid who I think was stoned. Anyways, he hazed the car pretty good and then gave me some swirls at no extra cost.

To get the swirls out I used the 3M swirl mark remover, and that worked well though they're not completely out. I was going to go over it again to get them out and then polish and wax it. Is that a good way to go?

The hazing is pretty bad but only noticeable when you're looking at it at the right angle with the sun shining on it. I bought some Klasse All-in-one and then was going to wax it. This AIO is obviously the next step after the swirl mark remover. What do you guys think I should do?

get someone to use compound and remove all the swirl marks - go to a good detail shop with a good rep. Ask your dealer - they may use someone to do this type of stuff rather then their own crew...

I wouldn't compound a new car. The problem with compounding is it polishes the entire car..grinding down the entire cars clearcoat. You don't want to necessarily polish swirls down.. you want to fill them.

Look at that.. polishing will make grind those mountains (ie clearocat) down into plains, so everything is flat.

Instead, you want to fill in around those mountains, so everything is flat, but still just as high. Get it?

What I'm saying is don't get too aggressive with compounding your car early on, because in 5 years, when the paint is DEFINATELY hazed, you want to be able to do it then. If you do it now, you won't have any clearcoat left in 5 years.

What I do is just use a quality product like Meguiars Gold Class Wax or something like that. Use a couple coats of any good wax to fill in the swirls. Then go over it with a shine enhancer spray, personally I find Eagle One Wet to be the best. This process will get rid of most of your swirls, while preserving your clear coat.

Most of those swirl remover products are too harsh, and meant for older cars. If you use them, you definately need to go over it a few times with a good wax because it will strip your clearcoat bad.
