Default When to wash and wax

When we bought our home 15 years ago the driveway was most always shaded by a very large tree. Well that tree had to be taken down due to the "Emerald Ash Borer". Anyway now our driveway is nearly all sun shine all day long. I don't want to wash car in the hot direct sun so this leaves me either very early in the morning or very late in the evening.Neither time is convenient to do so. So I'm just wondering how you all get yours washed so often?

I wash when the driveway has a shadow from the house.

I wash head to toes at least once a day. Waxing, NEVER!

You can try to talk your wife into getting up early and washing it so it's ready for you after she fixes breakfast . Don't mind me sometimes I just get delusional. I think it the virus

I always thought the rule was 'don't WAX in full sun", I don't usually wash mine in full sun but that's because it's often so HOT in the full sun.

I bought an inexpensive waterproof car cover for my 2005 Ltd. Roadster so I very rarely have to wash my car, and it is protected from the elements since I don't have a garage. I keep the top down most of the time (since I live in So Cal) so I can go "Topless" anytime putting down the top.

Hope it doesn't melt to your car in this weather (LOL).

I have my 2007 Coupe in the driveway with a car cover on it. I've got an oak tree & 3 sweet gum trees along one side and I need the car cover to keep the tree sap off the car. In addition, living in Upstate SC, the car needs some protection from the elements. That being said, I probably wash the car every couple of weeks. I prefer to "hand wash" the car & immediately dry with a large, microfiber towel. However, with the extreme heat from late July through August in our area this year, I took the car up to the local Car Spray Wash and gave it a good cleaning & rinse for 5 minutes. I dried it off when I got the car back home. Naturally, the car has a deep shine, surface treatment on it which helps protect the paint & holds up to the spray wash. Since these car wash facilities use high pressure water, I never have the spray nozzle close to the car's surface. And I use only the "Soap" cycle, followed by the "Rinse" cycle. All that other stuff shown on the selection dial is crap - MHO. And I NEVER use the brush wand! I'll take my own wash mit if the car needs a section scrubbed during the soap washing.

I'll "spruce up" any surface polymer sealant and/or wax treatment probably every 3-4 months. Doesn't take very long that way.

There are also those canvas instant marquee sun shades you can get. Portable, plus can be erected in 5 minutes.
Might offer some much needed sun shade, to be able to wash and clean the car at more suitable times through the day? Although you would still want the vehicle bodywork to cool down too (from being sat out in the sun for hours).

I also have a driveway in direct sun. I can usually wash up to 0900. My answer to that problem is to pull the car under a tree in the front yard. Depending on the time of day determines which side of the tree I pull under. I see a tree on the far side of your property give that a try.
