Schrick Cams Info
Here's some information I received from Turner Motorsports regarding the Schrick cams for the Crossfire. The price is still way up there and they do not list any alternate valve springs. I'll have to take a look at the OEM engine specs to see if the lift and duration are different from the OEM.
hmm ... if they where designed for NA use then they most likely incorporated a good amount of overlap to allow the exhaust pulse to pull in the intake pulse ... works great on NA cars but not so good on boosted cars ... we'll see what research HDDP comes up with.
wait, is that $950 each, or a total of $1,900?? i thought they were way more...don't want to get excited but if its that much i will definitely purchase these, once i sell my house at least, in the next month or so hopefully.
yea i am understanding it as $1,900 total since its a single cam per head on this engine... still overpriced like hell... you purchase any grind crane cam for less than $500 bux for my old projects and those cams where longer so this ought to be about $1,000 total... oh well.
we are talking about parts for a mercedes motor, so its not going to be cheap, and that's not too much of a premium, at least compared to the other products we have to choose from...
Here's what I came-up with.
Schrick Cams made for the M112 3.2L engine
Part # 0351 01 561 L0 --- $950
Part # 0351 01 561 R0 --- $950
OEM Lift 6.59mm
Schrick Lift 7.25mm
No heavy duty valve springs required. This would be considered a level one cam modification. Realistically you can only expect about a +/- 10 hp increase. So basically about $190 per hp. without labor. I would have this done by a certified Mercedes mechanic which would cost you somewhere in the range of $600.
Available thru Turner MotorSports online.
As my mechanic always says, "HORSEPOWER COSTS MONEY, HOW FAST DO YOU WANT TO GO ?".

Don't get too excited, but...
I discussed the Schrick Cams product with the west coast dealer "Denon Performance" today and asked if they had supporting data. He said they do not, and Schrick has not provided them with dyno #'s because there were very few MB 112 engines that they have been installed in.
He did the typical sales rep. thing and said that the cams have been widely used in the BMW community and have delivered between 10% and 13% increases in HP on NA engines.
The skeptical MF that I am, I pulled my ace card and said can you show the HP increase in the BMW motor, he said yes absolutely and sent me a half dozen dyno printouts.
I asked if the car would need ECU reprogramming after the cams were installed and he said no.
Then I asked for a price and delivery time. He then said, since you race the car I will give you the racers discount of $1,400 for the pair, but you have to send me a copy of your pro license to verify... He said that this is the same price he sells to EVOSPORT.
So, I faxed him a copy of my (ticket) and ordered them...
I hope I don't get into the same stupid thing that happened with the Super Sprint Headers...
