Default magnaflow coming out with exhaust for crossfire.

just found out magnaflow is coming out for a system for our cars, can't wait to see it and what they will price it at. Magnaflow has always been a great sounding system. It should be interesting.

Question Re: magnaflow coming out with exhaust for crossfire.

Is the piping going to be a larger diameter and is there an X-pipe in the mix? What about the tips, any pics.

there's no x-pipe in a single exhaust system --

since we're a v6 there are two exhaust pipes. they only have to connect them at the muffler. so the x pipe is completely possible.

That is true but the twin pipes are commoned where they connect to the rear cat. From there the stock system is a single pipe, even though it has twin tailpipes. It is almost certain that the Magnaflow will be a cat-back system that just replaces the rear muffler, bolting to the single outlet at the rear of the cat. It may indeed have a nice sound but it is doubtful if it will add power.

FYI: I called Magnaflow today and talked to their sales department, and the guy I spoke with didn't even know they were coming out with it. It is on the website as part #16633. I asked him for a time frame, and he said "months away" so don't expect this until fall, according to Jim in the sales dept.

I ordered a #14220 generic awhile back that I'm still waiting to get installed - figured I might wait until this came out, but unfortunately - won't be anytime soon.

Maybe we need to start calling them every day. Sooner or later they'll get tired of it and make the muffler just to stop the harassment.

i deleted that and made it so that its true duals all the way until the muffler. which i chose to be a flowmaster--gave me about an estimate of 10 hp, and decent torque gain.

I haven't yet inspected my entire exhaust system, but I do feel there is room for improvement in the snakey exhaust manifolds. Does anybody make a long tube header for the XF??

Just go to an exhaust shop and get a cat back installed with an x pipe, that's what I'm doing but with no mufflers.

no offense, but that will probably sound horrible, this is a small displacement v6, not a small bock v8.

Take the rear section of your exhaust out, then tell me it sounds horrible. It will be quieter and smoother with an x pipe. I have the magnaflow on now and it seems to muffle out all those beutiful burps and pops that I love. It's the closest I've ever heard a v6 come to a v8. It has a very deep sound even with no mufflers. Remember there ARE 4 cats on this car and they mellow and quiet it down substantially.

trust me i know what an x pipe is for. i have an 11 sec trans am w/ lt headers all the way through straight pipe dumped off at the axles, and it sounds AMAZING. but the engine is also twice the displacement-- i know their is 4 cats, because i have taken off 2 myself, and put on a flowmaster trust me, that does sound amazing. but this car with an x pipe and no muffler will sound like garbage *imho*, but to each their own.
