Default HeLP Me! September 4th 2006!

Yesterday I washed my baby, and I keep under the hood also with the engine cleaner (pressure wash). Later in the day I went to go and start her up and all I got was a loud clicking sound. The lights and radio and everything was working so I doubt it was the battery. But the car would not start and then I waited a second and tried to start it again and it worked. Any advice is better then what a chrysler dealer would give.

Let the car run for a while. You probably soaked things under hood and they need to be dried out.

I pressure washed under the bonnet on another car once. It washed most of the grease out of the alternator bearings and ceased it solid. It just made a clicking sound as the starter could not turn the alternator! Had to replace the alternator as a result because re-oiling didn't really help.

I would be very careful when washing under the bonnet on any car now.

Hopefully your problem will go away with a bit of use, but if it persists, it might be worth looking at the starter solenoid, or even the alternator like me if it is ceasing! Maybe try a bit of WD40 on those sort of parts!

Good luck.
