Default Resetting the ECU?!

Hey sorry to make another thread on this subject, but it is just such a pain to go through all the threads and find an answer on how to do this? Please remind me...

PS. Don't tell me to search please. Lol.

Here you go, as posted by CrossfireLTD.

I am as guilty as the other guy when it comes to this. So, what I do now when I find good instructions or information I want to reference later, I copy and paste onto a Word doc, and save it in m y Crossfire folder. Makes it much easier to find.

This was posted by one of our members (HDDP I believe):

Throttle Body Adjustment. They say this works on all drive by wire vehicles and resets parameters WITHOUT Having to disconnect battery!

The Throttle is "Drive By Wire" and adapts to your particular driving
style. Do a TBA Throttle body adaptation.

1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.

2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position, the position just before the starter
turns over.

3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.

4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back
to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas
pedal.

5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment.

6. Drive the car as you always do.

Depending on your driving style, this may or may not be a big factor. I do a lot of city driving so
I noticed a big change after erasing my history. It is not hard to do this, just follow the instructions -

Key on, pedal down, 5 sec, key off pedal up, wait 2 minutes.

Keep the key in for the entire thing.

If this doesn't work, disconnect your neg. battery cable for 20 minutes. This will re-set the parameters in the drive-by-wire... Unfortunately it will delete your pre-set radio stations, clock etc. as well...

Kind of an old topic but have a few questions.

1. What are the advantages of resetting the ECU?
2. Can you reset the ECU to many times and ruin/damage/do something bad to it?
3. When you say pedal down, do you mean, fast, slow? All the way down?

You are not actually resetting the ECU, you are resetting the "learn" parameters of the FMU. The computer system in the Fuel Management Unit (FMU) has a learn function that adapts to the driving style of the operator.

IT IS BARELY NOTICEABLE WHEN YOU RESET THE FMU... Buy a Sprint Booster if you want quick throttle response.

Bringing up an old thread, because this worked for me in the past, but did not tonight. I did the same thing as usual the same thing you instructed and I remember hearing beeps of conformation at least twice during the process this time there is nothing...? Any ideas on what I could possibly be doing wrong? Or am I even doing something wrong?

Thanks again.

Bump. Does this method actually work? On SLK32 AMGs you needed a computer to do this.

Edit - And it does indeed.
