I'm betting it's the same 6 inch tubes that put the air filter(s) right inline with the serpentine belt.

If that's the case........why would you even think of calling it a COLD air intake?

Can't wait for the pictures.

Cool Re: spectre performance CAI

This is true I fabbed my intake with Spectre parts, it by no means is a "true" CAI no hp gain or loss but looks good...all show no go (but does add a nice growl to the engine).

is that the kit that allows you to buy the builder set for free and once you have your layout and parts list then you order the real thing? i've seen something like that at autozone before and it looked very interesting. also i've noticed that pepboys sells parts too for coustom building your intakes.

yes I bought the kit at checker and got a 20% discount from my fiance that works there lol, I also purchased the makeup kit so you know exactly what parts to purchase although it wont be refunded once your done because its at the store and not from spectre's site. I admit its not a true cold air intake yet but I should be able to fob up more pipe later to make it one, it just took me all day to get this done lol so I didn't want to mess with it anymore, oh and for those who try this I just took a 90 and attached it to the maf sensor to create my intake but don't try to close your hood you need to cut the 90 first so it will clear, oh and like any other intake your not going to be able to really feel any difference, but it sure seems like it because of the awesome growl under the hood

Isn't SPECTRE the evil organization that James Bond was always after? They also make intake parts? Diversity in business is always a good thing.

8 horse at 5000 rpm.......horsepower increases with rpm...torque drops. 5252RPM they are dead equal. I have a lot of miles on my car in the past year.....with the intake off and on more than a few times......go back and forth enough and you can tell the difference.

maybe I should invest in the needswings intake, does it give it a loud growl?

You definitely hear the engine more. You can really hear the air intake when you "snap" the throttle. For me, even if there was no power increase I'd still run the intake just for the better sound.

I'm a fairly new member but it seems that air intakes are either the short "ram" ones that suck hot air from behind the radiator (in the engine compartment) or the longer ones that suck cold air from in front of the radiator. Dont the front radiator ones (like needswings) have smaller diameter tubing so I dont see the benefit.

Anyways I dont see how there could be a benefit from either one:
-Sucking hot air thru a large diameter tube
-sucking cold air thru a smaller diameter tube.

Anyone who would like to shed some light and en"light"en me, I would appreciate it.

What you have created is a hot air intake. Your tubes are sucking air from inside the engine compartment. The Needswings tubes are larger than the stock and locate in front of the radiator. The stock tubes seem to have much more baffling in them. The NW's is pretty much a straight thru type deal also teflon coated. I'd like to see NW's come with something that fits the lower grill area and forces the air into the intake that way. Althought Crossfire Ltd's looks really nice its basically a hot air system.
He drives an XLR nowdays anyway!

I built my own. It's not a Spectre, but a couple of parts are from there. Center pic in my signature below.

And, yes, it draws the air from the front, cool area. But not for the last 3 weeks-it's really been hot down here!

I see your chrome pipes. They look good. But i dont see the air filters. Are they behind the radiator to the side or in front like the Needswings?

Thanks

Gary

Where did you get the Y pipe for your intake?

The tubing is all aluminum-polished. The filters are in the 2-4" cans in the engine bay, right and left.

Read post #306 and on for more info-
