Smile MY 1ST time!!!

I purchased my crossfire in for my Birthday in feb. and LOVE IT!!!
I also went and purchased a Roadster in march. 2005 9000 Miles
This is my 1st post but I have called around to several dealerships in the area and have been told that ..... My oil change is about $149.00.

I have a 2004 34000 Should I use a dealership or Stealership to get my OIL CHANGE. I am confused on what to do or even who should i get to perform the oil change? What is the average price and if using another Company (midas, etc.).

What should i ask them to verify that they know what they are doing to my Babies. I love reading all the post and hope to get a lot of joy out of my Crossfire!

THANKS!!!!

That's about the going rate for an oil change at the stealership.
Do a search on changin g oil on the forum.
A lot of people use a 'topsider', which is a manual vacuum pump to extract the oil - there are powered version too.

If you have a mechanic you trust, buy the oil and filter yourself and offer your mechanic $20 to do the oil change for you.

Just another alternative.

I have it done at a local place i trust and can watch them do it for $65. I actually have a deal for free oil changes where I bought the car, but it's way out of my way.

I also have free oil changes for life from the dealer, but I just don't trust them....

So far I have changed my own. Just did it yesterday. However, I think that I will start using the local Mercedes Dealer. They want $85. That is reasonable considering the cost of the oil and fleese filter. The Chrysler Dealer wants $130. If I had free changes as some say they do, I would take the bit of 'risk' and let them do it. I would love to get something free from Chrysler.

After what is it like 8 quarts of oil, and the filter the labor shouldnt be too much.

Oil-$40-$50 Mobile 1

Filter $20 - $30. The price of filters just went up at my dealership. Same part but a nice brand new price.

i buy the oil and the filter and my dealership charges me $10.00 for the oil change.

i have a 2005 coupe non srt-6.the cost of the oil and filter was about $63 dollars.dealer wanted $125 i thought what the heck.i will try it myself.without jacking the car up i reached the four 10mm bolt holding the cover.with the cover off i found the drain plug was accessible by reaching from front of car and easily removed it.replaced and went for the filter.kit comes with four "O" rings filter and seal.unscrew and pull out<pull briskly>looks like a 12 inch spear replace "O" rings and install spear <put some oil on your rings first.add filter and seal.of course add your oil 8.5 quarts.and check for leaks.a lot of words ,but very easy to do.good luck

i also do mine. i'm a bargin shopper and its just too easy to do my self to justify twice the cost for somebody else to do it. only thing i'm concerend about by doing my self is lubing the bearings. i haven't went around the car with a grease gun yet or even searched for grease ports if they exist. ??

I'm new to the Crossfire world so pardon my newbie question but why is an oil change on a Crossfire so much more than a "regular" car ($28 oil change at Goodyear, Midas, etc. for a Ford Escape or similar)?
