Yes. My wife was running regular fuel. Once she ran a few tanks of 93 octane the problem went away.

Have you checked the obvious - clean air filter, plugs & gaps, plug leads etc?

Oil shouldn't have anything to do with it. Shell should be good gas. Check your air filter.

My 2004 only has 16,000 miles on her, do you think the air filter could be the problem

It depends on your driving conditions. If live in an area with lots of dust or junk in the air, it could.

Just an update, took the car to the dealer for the above problem, could not duplicate the concern but did do a scan and all that came up was code #P1600 which indicated "rough road detected" and something about a transmission hose, the "rough road detected" according to the service manager has been seen before but had no idea what it meant and was not in the code book, so maybe I did get some bad gas from Shell, will try Diamond Shamrock for awhile and see what happens

I always take what these people say about the codes with a pinch of salt unless I actually see the code my self. The last vehicle I had threw a code at one point, the CEL never came on, but the code said I had reached the maximum speed of the vehicle. I had not done that.

Just an update, opened the hood to check the oil and found that the engine cover and one large air hose (the ones on each side of the engine cover) was not installed properly after my last oil change, this is when my problem seems to have started, the engine cover was sitting at an angle and quite loose
could this have been my problem
