Yeah - I just did not understand why you where having the problem...even the service manual agreed with me....LOL
So we know there are at least two versions of the tensioner.

Hi all. I know it's now 2022, but I'm thinking at this stage these crossfire are more and more for the DIY owner. I just want to add that Yes... The limited is as described 17mm socket to the bracket very tight to the pulley at 7oclock in my case. You can find it blind once feeling the area. I used 3/8 ratchet and a jackhandle as a breaker just for the reach. Might be the easiest serp I've ever done once removing the aircleaner for whatever access that afforded. I'll add 2 pics of the scene if that helps.

The belt tensioner should swivel. You shouldn't have to remove the bolt.

Care to explain al. Little more please sir. I have a shop and one of my bays are kinda tied up at the moment. I had someone get the tamper proof torx kit for me and drop it if and my luck it goes from T45 to T55. T50 is the winner. I'ma pick it up tonight at work I'm a manager at AutoZone. It'll be taken care of when I get off tonight but love knowledge and really would like to know for my future mess ups . Thank you sir

Mine is not a 17 mm socket, looks more like a female torq, the cent of the torq must be hollow? Any idea?

Are you sure you are looking at the tensioner? Did you see the video in Post 27?

If you are releasing the tension to replace the belt, no bolts need to be removed. If you are replacing the tensioner, 3 torx bolts must be removed after releasing the tension and locking it in place with a pin first. Videos are on line.

WHAT car do you have ???? The SRT6 and the limited are different? There is a torx on the SRT6 and a Hex (I' thinking it is 17mm ) on the limited base, special edition.
If you have a torx use that to de-tension. Don't jerk it just slow and easy you can detension.

Here's a picture of a base, limited or special edition belt tensioner. This requires a 17mm socket on a breaker bar to release the tension.
This is not for the SRT6.
