Default "oil level hi" light

this is a weird one...Ive put 1000 miles on the car since an oil change and last night after driving a while it beeped and the engine oil level hi light came on, but went off right after I shut the car down and turned it back on...should i drain a tad, or not worry?

That does seem odd. I would check the stick. If it reads okay makes you wonder why the light came on at all. But if it reads high definitely drain some. You don't want to run that engine with too much oil.

Be sure you don't have coolant getting into the oil causing the level to raise.

I got that warning when we went to the track in Orlando when I had my limited. I kept the RPMs high for a decent amount of time. I figured it was saying the Oil "temp" was too high since I was running the engine at high RPMs but not at a significant enough speed to counter the added heat the engine was creating

I had a similiar problem after the dealer changed the oil and they had to syphon out some because they put too much in. Even though they were a 5 star dealership, they told me it really is a best guess that we have all the oil out...blah blah blah. They also forgot to reset the computer to acknowledge that the oil was changed.

After they fixed their mistakes, I never saw the warning again.
