Default For those with NeedsWings CAI on N/A car?

Have any members with a NeedsWings CAI on a N/A car ever installed the basic plastic MB engine cover (not air box) on there vehicle. The engine cover I'm talking about is the same one you have the option of getting with the TVT CAI. Sorry if this has been covered in a thread before . . . I couldn't find it in a search. Anyway, has anyone put one on? Any mods to the cover? I like the idea of the CAI with the filter right behind the grill but prefer the look of a more "finished product" like TVT's.

Nope......never gave it a second thought.

Then again, I'm one of those types that prefers to see an engine under the hood, not a big piece of plastic.

Call me "old school"!

OLD SCHOOL!

Personally, I don't really care. When you open up the hood and people ask, are you going to lie and tell them you the engine cover came from factory or tell them the truth and say you put it on.. which makes you look cheesy.

It's just a piece of plastic, who really cares.

I would like to really thank you both for your opinion . . . however, I wasn't asking for opinions. I know what I would like to do and I'm wondering if anyone else has tried the same thing. If yes, please respond to the thread. I'm looking for help and an answer to my question . . . not your opinion on if you like the idea or not.

People give opinons on this site...are you kidding?

Seriously though, I may be wrong, but I don't think the engine cover will fit/attach with any CAI on an N/A.

BTW, what are "them" that you sell?

Someone did a modification of their cover and made it fit over a NW cai. IMO it looked terrible.....they cut a whole section off the cover.

I just can't remember who, and don't care to find it.....I might offer unwanted opinion! OOps..already did...DAMN!

Yep, I just remembered this one:

It looks good though (although I would have made the paint job simpler in some respects), IMHO. Opps!

Opinions are fine to post when they are solicited, I was simply trying to get an answer to a question. I know Apkano prefers "old school" looks from reading the previous thread concerning CAI's, and that is fine. I don't take kindly to having anyone call me or my car cheesy. Especially when it's an unsolicited opinion. As for what I sell, that would be Crossfires . . . I work at a Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge store. I truly enjoy this forum. I just don't understand why some feel the need to chime in with there two cents when it has little or even nothing to do with the thread.

I would like to thank VALKRYDERGUY for the answer to my question.

I would really like to know how it is that I keep getting dragged into what OTHER people post? Why single out me?

Apkano . . . I got it right, your post stated you never gave it a second thought. You prefer to see the engine instead of a big piece of plastic. You prefer old school. I responded thats fine. Unfortunately, this statement was quoted and used as a launching pad for all kinds of useless opinions that did little to help answer my question. This opened the flood gates for more foolish statements that were never intended to help. What has happened in the past is eventually the thread goes way off coarse with useless banter. I was determined to not let this happen again. I'm sorry you feel singled out, you were used as the launching pad when your statement was quoted. However, can you honestly tell me your second post that started with quoting InfernoRedxFire was intended to help? As for those that used your opinions to justify there own . . . Perhaps they can explain.

Hi psuperty, I checked out your pic's on domain. It must be tough getting in and out of your car with those girls in your way. I have the same engine cover that is in the picture VALKRYDERGUY linked. That cover would requre some cutting because it doesn't have the offset hole for the oil filter. Do you know what year and model MB your cover is off of? Or better yet, when you get the chance could you check the MB part # on your cover for me? Thanks in advance.

There are 2 part numbers one is for euro cars and the other one is for US cars. I first bought the wrong one then exchanged it.

First off.......I was not aware of any rules stating that I was responsible for other people's posts. Using that line of logic, You sell cars, if one of the cars you sold was used in a crime, you would also be responsible. That's good information to know.

Second.....seeing as this thread is titled "For those with NeedsWings CAI on N/A car", and through the above mentioned posts.....I see no mention of ONLY people with modded airboxes responding.

Since I found this thread withering away with ZERO replies, I figured I'd respond with a pertinent answer, as I do have a CAI, and the only modified airbox I've seen on one had a huge section taken off the back of it. It looked horrible. Imagine cutting a square section off the back 1/4 of your airbox. By doing this, it bumped your thread back up to a more visible area, and got you some answers and discussion. Silly me, I thought that forums were all about discussion.

Thank you for educating me......I will make absolutely sure to not reply to any of your posts / threads unless I'm specifically referred to by name.

No need to respond to this post as I will make sure not to return.

Oops, I guess I got someone angry with my opinion. Thanks again to VALKRYDERGUY and psuperti for providing me with answers. I think it's best to end this thread here.
