Default One piece drive shaft

This is a break away thread from...
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ad.php?t=28745

I have contacted a company that can build a one piece drive shaft for our cars. The company is called The Drive Shaft Shop(http://www.driveshaftshop.com/main_cat1.php), easy enough name huh? This is a great company. I have used their products before and if anyone has ever had a Import, then they most likely have too. If you look on the site, they build for everything from Dodge to Porsche. Now that you know they are a legit company.

They need a sample shaft to be able to build us one. Being that the shaft is $1200, I'm trying to locate someone that lives near the company's location. The company's address is..
The Drive Shaft Shop
1531 South Main Street
Salisbury, NC 28144

To my understanding they will not need to take apart your car, he will just need measurements and such ( Exact words** "need to see a sample to get you a quote")

If you live near there and want to help out please contact me so i can hook you up with them and we can get this started.

Thanks
Sky

SKY.. I live in Charlotte,NC. Have two SRT-6 coupes. The Drive Shaft Shop in Salisbury,NC is 45 miles from me. I just got my car serviced for a road trip, leaving for Florida on 12-23-08. If this shop just wants to do a visual with measurements,I could stop in early that morning. Wouldn't want them to actually pull the drive shaft out and chance a seal leak on my way to Florida. That would be awesome. He told me that he only needs to see it to give us a quote. I wouldnt know if the build will take a test car or test shaft. Maybe you can ask him. I dont know how long it will take him to get the measurements and stuff though so if your on a schedule, I dont want to mess it up. But if you are game then here are the phone numbers i was provided...
9-5:00 Eastern standard time
1-704-633-2380 phone
1-704-633-2385 fax
1-800-564-2244 orders

Sweet! I wonder how much our stock driveshaft weighs and how much we would benefit from a lighter aluminum driveshaft. I see some of them are priced around $500 on their site. I'd pay that for a nice lightweight one piece. I know the guys at MB world were talking about this a while ago so maybe we can get a group buy with a discount? Keep us updated. Thanks

Awsome i just started to feel this driveline thump. Its only when i go from park to drive and sometimes shifting to or from 1st. My girlfriend even noticed it . I have taken it to the drag strip a few times though.

Also i would have to recommend DSS as well i bought some axles for a turbo car i built and they were very high quality

I just chatted with Frank at The Drive Shaft Shop,Salisbury,NC. It took me three days to get him to the phone,he's Sooooooo busy.Closed 19th thru 29th for Christmas. He said a drive by for quick measurements want cut it. He wants the drive shaft handed to him. He stated thats the conditions and he keeps the shaft for at least three weeks. If no one just happens to have a extra drive shaft laying around, I could take mine out while I'm doing a few mods. Installing my Needs Wings intake manifolds and cutting in XKR supercharger vents into my hood. If no one has an extra drive shaft,Let me know... Squirrel Crusher

I am so sorry I cannot help out. I am currently in Arizona, but my Crossfire is in storage in Delaware, so this would be perfect if I could get it out. No one available to do so though. DsS is very good stuff, I used to work for Quadratec where we used them and Tom Wood's in Utah..

You found a Crossfire Drive Shaft for $138?? We need to get our hands on that. I haven't been able to get on the net lately, Have been doing Field training. I would most likely be out til the 24th or so. My car is also in storage so if we cant find a shaft by the time i get on the net again, i will try to get mine removed and shipped.

There is a different drive shaft for each: the N/A Auto, N/A Manual, and SRT6 Auto.

I'm back home! Soooo what's up with the driveshaft's. There are 3 different 2 piece driveshafts for our cars. SRT-6 Automatic>5135420AA Limited Automatic>DGU 5102636AA Limited Manual 6 speed>DED 5099384AA ... Now this is more complicated than we thought. Who and what type of cars are we interested in getting driveshafts made for. Will a one piece drive shaft clear everything under our cars? If so,Why did they put a two piece driveshaft in our cars from the beginning? Squirrel Crusher.
