exhaust as a christmas gift to myself, but...
Hey there,
I am going to order a magnaflow exhaust for xmas, but which one have you ever seen on a Xfire? which one is the best 14805 or 14807 or 14861....
I went to youtube and saw that some people have installed the 14805 and it looks really good. The thing is that I have a cabriolet and I was wondering how hard is it to install. I am going to a specialist to do it, cos' I don't have the tools to do it. Do you have to weld it or can it be attached with some other item?
Will the pipes be too long? I think that in the 14815 the pipes are too big, but can someone confirm?

Can't wait to come back from belgium to install it.
Happy holiday to everybody and thx in advance for the answers.

Hey martosh79,
Installed the Magnaflow 16633 Stainless Cat-Back Exhaust last weekend on my '05 Lmtd Roadster. Install was very easy with the exception of removing the frame brace used to stiffen the roadster; brace is located under the mufflers. This thing has (8) star point screws which have thread locker on them! Once you get this off, the rest of the install goes very easy! I can check on the star bit size later today if you like; a good impact wrench makes this much better!
The entire deal took me and my 9 y/o son about 1 hour 15 minutes and was well worth it....very nice "varooom"!

i know from taking off my exhaust it sucks to get the hooks out of the rubber holders at the outlet end of the pipe. Does not really have much to do with the exhaust itself though
Hi, I have magnaflow exhaust installed in my car. I went to mufler shop and they did it for me. But there is a connector to your stock exhaust mid way after the cats. They unscrewed it and then cut off the end, then they welded a custom pipe from there to the magnaflow. Cost me 420 all together. Hope this helps!
JBomar,
So what do you think of the new exhaust system you put on? I was thinking the same part number this spring. But I hate to get the dreaded "DRONE".
Whats your opinion on the system so far?
Thanks, James

Hi,
thx for all the info. I will have to calculate the size of the pipe. I don't know if it is 2,25" or 2,5".... if someone has done it to a limited roadster, what is the size for the mignaflow pipe in the muffler?.
best regards,

There is a little drone but I think this is to be expected when upgrading to this type of system. There is a very nice "varooom" when you wind it up a bit! I think it gives a nice European sound - not a ricer at all. I would recommend this install yourself.....save the $100 especially with the coupe. The biggest problem withthe roadster was removing the cross brace for stiffening. A mad German with thread locker installed mine! The rubber hangers at the tips are a bit of a problem but lube them up and that goes pretty good as well. You can drop a couple screws out of the rear underbody facia to give a bit more room as well. The entire install took just over an hour.
Martosh....this is a 2.5" system.

hmmm, jbomar thx for the 2,5".
now I do know what to do any more. I have heard before that it was a 2,25", so the 14805 would fit in it
14805
Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.25in./3.5in.
Body Shape: 5in.x8in. Oval
Core Size: Dual 2in.
Body Length: 14in
But Is there a magnaflow with 2,5"???? The catback is too expensive....even with the 350$ offer in the forum.... (I live in Finland and the customs would be too expensive)
So I was going for the 14805, like I have seen someone with it in Youtube.
So, does magnaflow have a 2,5" inlet?

+1 on the 16633.
The sound is incredible.
As far as the underbody brace.......if you just remove the 4 bolts that hold it above the rear axle, it can hang down enough to remove and install the new exhaust. There's no need to remove the brace entirely.
There's also some people that have had issues with the rubber hangers falling off the metal hooks over time. I don't know how they can come off when they are such a bi*ch to put on! I just went out and got some heavy-duty black zip ties and used them to hold the hangers together. 15,000 miles without a single issue.
With any Magnaflow......you have to give them a little time to "break-in". When I first put mine on I thought it was way to loud.....then I went to the dragstrip that weekend and they settled right down. The sound is awesome now!

Martosh,
I need to appologize! The pipe from the CATs to the muffler are NOT 2.5". Measured again today and this is what I found:
2.238" O.D.
2.125" I.D.
Sorry for the bad information.

I installed a magnaflow 14861 muffler and love it. Yes you do get a little drone. Had a muffler shop install it and the total cost using stainless pipe, muffler and labor was around $200.00. James if you want to take my car for a spin at the spring dragon to see if you like the sound before you get one let me know.

I calculated the size of my OEM exhaust and the sizes are as follows:
overall lenght 50 cm (19.7")
body lenght 30 cm (11.8")
so pipes 20 cm (7.9")
the sizes for an aftermounted exhaust like the magnaflow 14861 are way too big... the overall lenght is 23.5"...... How did you manage to install it?
I think i am going to order the 14807 or 14805. the overall lenght is 20.75" so much closer to the 19.7" on the OEM....
Am I doing wrong, and how is it possible to install such a big muffler 14861 ?
I don't want to order the wrong size of a muffler... Are the sizes the same in your cars???
Exhaust order minus a few days
The main thing is that I don't want to pipes to come too far from the bumper but i don't want them to be under the bumper neither.
hope someone can inform me....
