Tired of having a low HP engine
Is anyone else out with a NA crossfire fed up with the low amount of horsepower the engine puts out.
Don't get me wrong I love the car... I guess it's just not enough anymore.
Why would anyone put such a weak engine in such a beautiful car???
I put on a CAI and to tell you the truth the power is hardly noticeable. Despite what some people say specifically the people who sell them most of the power gain is in your head (placebo effect IMO).
I guess I am just venting. I know nissan just released the 370 Z that is making 333 hp.
There are upgrades available but lets be honest most of them do not make much of a difference.
I'm just venting....Maybe I need to buy a different car because it is too hard to supercharge this one.
I am tired of having a car that looks fast but can't perform.

Our car is old, the year may be 2004, 2005, or even 2008, but the engine, etc, are from 99-01, except the body.

1) Merger
2) Excess parts left over from phased out model
3) New model needs a drivetrain. Using a drivetrain that is in abundance within stock, and an engine with proven reliability is a no-brainer. Why spend more money on R&D for a new engine, when the company you just merged with has thousands on stand-by?
End result: we get a sleek grand-touring coupe that turns heads and does so (reliably) for many years to come.
The 370Z is newer, faster. But proven? Who knows...

Yes I'm tired too, they had since the SLK in 2000 to come up with aftermarket parts for our engine, turbo kits etc. But all we got is a tune, a couple of exhaust kits and a intake. Sad!!!
Oh, i don't know, I'm happy with mine, an NA LTD. It really isn't, IMO about HP, it's about torque and this one has alot of it, quick to jump out in any traffic situation. I'm not planning on taking it to the track anyway, and in certain situations I can go 120 or more if I want to, but in most cases I'm limited to about 80 anyway, so what's the point? I just wanted a car that nobody else has, that handles well, goes as fast as I need, is comfortable and is a real looker.
But I can see that if you want a barn burner this isn't the one, the Mustang GT is really a better choice, but then again there's a kazillion GT's out there, they cost twice as much as the Cross, and other than the sound of the street performance, they're a real yawner. My opinion only.

Take it on a road course and see what you think. I've run down plenty of higher HP cars on track with mine. Sure, they'd beat me in the 1/4 mile but why the hell would you ONLY drag race a car like this? These things love the corners and do an awesome job under braking. Plus, 20 minute sessions are a hell of a lot more fun than a few seconds at a time in a straight line. Yawn.

We just got 278 Crank HP out of A C-class yesterday with a torque curve flat as a table. Mods: UD Pulleys, Headers, Injectors, Intake, and a full dyno tune.
The full tune gained an average of 16 RWTQ throughout the entire band and a little over 7 RWHP from 3k up.
There is a lot to be done with these engines you just have to realize that you are working with a 3.2L v6.

Personally, I think this car is a fine compromise all the way around. V6 that gives alot of muscle, handles like
an absolute demon, will run circles around most cars in it's class, and alot of them in higher classes, looks great, is unusual, built like a brick, gives good gas mileage. I don't know what more you could ask of a car, a two seater that is. Getting it for the prices we're paying today is such a bonus that sometimes I have to pinch myself over what a good buy this really was. I think that in less than 10 years you're going to see this car become a classic, and that prices will be reflected accordingly.

I get waves, thumbs up and compliments constantly. I picture myself in a vette etc and I dont see any difference in my driving nature no matter whats under the hood. The fact that there isnt alot of them around and that there never was...where I live, gives it a cool factor thats off the chart. I had a show quality 06 mustang that I traded for my 04 crossfire and I do miss that mustang because it was so cheap and easy to modify but I see so many of them anymore. ( there was 10 of them in a toyota, dodge dealership yesterday near my house) True that crossfires arnt the fastest but they are fast enough for me. Like the old saying, "I'll look better losing than you will winning". Besides, when youre not cookie cutter you dont have to prove anything to anyone...these cars will always stand out in a crowd.
So who would like a bolt on turbo system, including plumbing, and fuel managment?
I own a speed shop that has been building custom turbo systems for 8 year, and just got turned on to this virgin market in the auto industry by a freind that bought a 05 amg6 car, and am looking for a non-amg car to build a prototype kit for........
Anyone in the midwest want to work out a deal?

I drive my car like a somewhat civilized human being, and I rarely go WOT. When I do I wish I had more power, but I bought my car to be a daily driver. I enjoy the turns. It would be cheaper to buy a 5.0 powered ford car or anything with a small block chevy and spend about 3k in mods then to modify an NA to make any kind of serious power. I'll build my 5.8 powered ford someday.
ps.. type in 73 mach 1 suspension on google images, my car is the 1st one to come up haha.

I'm not well versed on these cars but why hasn't anyone suggested Nitrous Oxide. Even the guy with the Nitrous setup didn't suggest it. Am I missing something? If so fill me in...please!
Just took the roadster from Vegas to L.A. for the weekend. I was able to accelerate in any gear at any speed on any incline. Even did the Angeles Crest highway to Palmdale [that was fun]. Averaged around 80 mph going and between 75-80 coming home. Oh yeah, averaged 29.5 mpg going and over 30 coming back. Thought about going the speed limit to see what the mileage would be - only thought about it. I for one ain't complaining. Plenty of pep and a whole lotta fun, and an economy car to boot. The fun part reminded me on why I bought it in the first place.
