Tensioner pulley removal
Hello,
Looking for a little advice..
I'm replacing my alternator, and need to remove the tensioner pulley. Has anyone done this, if so, how did you go about it? I'm reading the service manual and it says it can cause damage to hands so I want to make sure I'm not going to crush my fingers or something.
Thanks for any help,
Chris

Jim,
How late you going to be around? I'm going to run to the auto parts store for a few Torx sockets and some other stuff.
I'll call, but want to make sure it's not too late.
Thanks,
Chris

Just glancing at mine, it looks like two inverted torx bolts and it should drop down, tilt it forward to disconnect the wiring. |You may have to push a couple coolant hoses out of the way.
It doesn't look too hard really. Be sure to disconnect the battery.

PS E14 socket

Hahahaha it's ALLIIIIIVE!! No more pesky bearing growl!
Thanks for everyone's help, couldn't have done it without you guys
.
Oh, and for future reference, there are little brass spacers around the two bolts holding the alternator in place - which were also somewhat holding the alternator in place after I had removed the bolts - all you need to do is use something to compress the spacer (I used a vise grip) and jiggle it around to loosen it.
If anyone needs help replacing the alternator on their NA Crossfire, I'd be more than happy to help! Need to return the favor

Quite common on all manufacturers, except they are usually not brass. Glad you got it finished. |James
