The problem with the modded MBZ cover is that it still suffers from heat soaking. It lays directly above the intake which is in itself a furnace of trapped radiated and conducted engine heat, not to mention from the pictures I have seen the air filters air directly behind the radiator yikes! It's best to use a "true" tubular style intake with a drop down filter to positive air somewhere by the front bumper. I may have a few people coming by this weekend. I'll take a look and see if I can't moc one up and make one for you guys. Of course I'll do before and after dyno's showing you the gains of stock, vs stock MBZ, vs modded MBZ, and a true cai.

I like it Waldig and I'm waiting to see if current needswings users will get an upgrade special. (HINT, HINT)

Question:

If it's 100*F outside - is it still a "Cold Air Intake"?

They should rephrase it to "Outside Air Intake".

It's still colder than the air under your hood!

I asked about running a setup like this, and was told that it would throw codes!

Did this setup cause you to throw a code?

If not im interested!

Not enough information. You want single or double? SRT or not?

Either way....if you get a NeedsWings it will NOT throw a code.

Some people make their own and don't take the MAF or vent hose placement into account on the NA engines, then they end up with CEL's. These things have been addressed and properly done on the NeedsWings and TVT CAI's. I imagine the MB airboxes are trouble free as well.....I have no experience with them though.

I have the MB Cover with TVT intakes that go up to the sides of the radiator, it worked well when I had the Spectra setup with the cans in the same area as the radiator but it got warm there, plenty warm. With the switch to the aluminum pipes which are 3" as were the Spectras, I noticed a marked improvement in felt horsepower and a nice sound from the exhaust under hard aceleration.
Now that I have the MB filters mounted in their respective housings and the aluminum pipes at the front near the radiator, I have lost some of the power that I had achieved with the other set-up.
I do have one issue that someone could probably help with. I can't get the plastic recievers out from the grille/radiator area. Those recepicles that the stock flex pipe connected to. There is a button on the bottom of the grille opening that each of the two is attached to. This can't be budged by me. Perhaps someone can explain how this is done. Thanks, Crossfire Trail (Rick) Situation resolved, for now!!! Thanks to all that sent suggestions. Rick

I asked about running a dual Needswings set up on a N/A crossfire!

And was told it would throw codes!

Sorry I can't read minds! I have no idea what you meant by "this"! You could have been referencing the post by Waldig 6 posts above yours, or the topic that this thread was started on, which is CAI's! Nowhere in your post did it say anything about NA or SRT!

The dual NeedsWings will not work on the NA due to the placement of the MAF sensor!

So couldn't I just keep my MB cover intake and just rig the filters in front of the radiator? Best of both worlds.. looks and performance.
