Default odd 'high oil level light'...help

I recently changed my oil and filter with the recomended (8 I believe) quarts of mobil 1. The oil level has never read hi until the light came on yesterday intermittently 'high oil'. I checked it and it appeared high. The car had been driven 2 hours, but Ive never had this happen before. Do I check it when it's cold again or ignore it?

Check COLD or COOL, enigine off for at least 5 minutes.. If it's high, remove a little.

Obviously it is HIGH...........thus the fancy light. Roll under the car and drain about 1/2 a quart of oil out, run the car, shut it off for 5 minutes and check the level again. If it's still too high then do it all over again.

Lets see....1/2 a quart....that is about how long it takes to put the drain plug back in while stopping the oil from draining.......

BTW! just because it is called a Topsider, put the receptacle can on the floor, not on top of the car.
