I've had a true dual exhaust system for over a year (see the picture in my gallery).

In all honesty, I have not observed any increase in power or performance. The sound is great, except for the drone between 2500-3000 RPM .

No, I didn't remove any cats. Drone is a vibration (resonance) which occurs at certain engine speeds and is annoying. Engineers/physicists can give a more accurate description of the phenomenon.

The good news about my system is that, with a gypsy (off brand) muffler, the total cost was only $189 installed.

I'm not sure if it's related to the exhaust, but my mileage is consistently 23-25 mph in town.

Here's a link to a write-up I found about exhaust drone. My guess is that since all of these exhausts are approximately the same length, they all would 'drone' in approximately the same RPM range. You just don't hear it as much with the less noisy mufflers.

drone is a cobra with dumps, a low pitch noise coming from the rear of the car. Surely you have heard that.
