Are you sure that the gas you're purchasing contains Ethanol? Remember that just because a pump has a "may contain" Ethanol label stuck on it somewhere doesn't necessarily mean that it actually has any Ethanol mixed in.

Can't say I've ever heard of the term E0. I'll ask though I can't believe anyone would use that term, I mean, E15 designates 15% Ethanol blend. Saying "E0" is like saying "gas"; why bother?
Kurts, thanks for the reply, I thought the same thing about the E0 term and only found it mentioned once or twice.

As far as the mandate, I am fairly certain we are not mandated at all, but I am still seeing the stickers everywhere that say may contain up to 10% ethanol. All I want to do is put a few tanks of gas in that I KNOW do not have ethanol in them to see if I get the significant MPG increases as others have. I never thought it would be this difficult to find good 'real' gasoline

Thanks for the 'rant' Rudy, it puts things in perspective for sure...

"May" contain - the keyword !

Hi, John!

The odds are that your gas doesn't contain any Ethanol.
Since Ethanol is produced regionally the price of it may vary between states & even counties but I'd be willing to bet that the cost of bulk Ethanol in Indiana is priced WAY above bulk gas & no sane gas station owner is going to kill his bottom line by blending.

Rudy, indeed - EXACTLY the way many of us feel about the whole Ethanol idea! Looks good on paper until you begin to factor in the cost of the propane or natural gas, the transporation costs to & from the plant, the waste by-product removal, etc. No wonder so many Ethanol producers have filed for bankruptcy. It's just NOT a viable long-term solution in this country. Even if we could grow switchgrass or use other waste by-products, we'd have to grow it on land that normal agriculture couldn't use & then grow it in huge amounts to compensate for the less-than-decent soil.
Oh, & then you have to create a whole new infrastructure to move the Ethanol from the production plant to the retailer since you cannot push Ethanol through the same pipelines you move gasoline through.
I'll take my hat off to Brazil for somehow managing to convert their entire fuel infrastructure to Ethanol but for this country it's just not practical!

I also see a posting on the Non-Oxygenated pumps that it is to be used in marine, snowmobile, motorcycle and antique automobiles only. I don't think you are not supposed to use it in new vehicles in Minnesota.

I had heard there were some ethanol free stations near me, but could never find them. Just the other day I happened to be sitting at a stop light and lo and behold, the sign on the gas station said "ethanol free available". I'm gunna have to give it a shot next time I need a good tank full. I'll also send my dad and his Vette to try it out.

Well, apparently I spoke too soon.

Evidently, within the past 3 weeks we have been blending all of our gas, except premium. The price of Ethanol has dropped like a rock around here & it became financially expedient to start blending again.
I wish that the distributors (like the company I work for) would post this info at the pumps somehow.
Kinda gets me peeved..........
