Is E85 Better?
I was talking with a friend about using E85. He has an SCCA competition license and MANY street and track cars. He claims that you get considerably more power for E85 saying that the research octane rating on E85 is as high as 127.
He said that you have to have your engine tuned to run it but once you do it runs much cooler in a Turbo or Supercharged vehicle. The downside is a 10-20% hit in decreased MPG. He also said this will help if you change pulleys.
True?

E85 is awesome for making power...............but it takes a LOT of it to make that power. When I was closer to stock I converted my car to E85(105 octane) and ran .3 faster at the dragstrip just by converting/tuning on E85. Once I added pullies and other goodies I quickly ran out of fuel and since I was under warranty still I didn't want to change to huge injectors and/or a bigger fuel pump so I switched back to 100pump tune.
PS I was getting 11mpg city while running E85.
