Default Just installed 74mm Throttle Body

So I just got done with it, on my limited. I can say the hardest part was swapping the connectors over, as the e55 one I got was covered in some expoy/sealant type deal that made it impossible to get to, so i just clamped it in a vice and took a screwdrive and bfh to it and eventually got everything off.

And yes, you do have to swap the boards, because the supercharged motors have different boards, the na's are tagged with a 10, the supercharged with an 8. Both use different trace lengths on the board.

So far I havent driven it, but it does rev a bit faster, sounds a wee bit throatier as well.

Driving impressions tomorrow

Glad to hear that it works well for you... a nice 80mm would be nice for the SRT crowd...

So, it seems you have done a good thing, Infinite, for the Ltd. So could you post a quick "what did you do by step" thing, with the cost involved, so that us other poor schmucks know what to do with this? That would be really cool.

1) got the E55 74mm TB (where'd you get it and cost)
2) needed a new board (which kind, where did you get it and cost
3) What else do you need and do etc etc
4) any issues run into
5) change in fuel economy if any (that's just for fun because who really cares????

We'd all really appreciate it Thanks Infinite. Mark

Try Weber Brothers before you try doing the electronics swap. The phone number is 1(800)222-2528. Tell them you need a TB from a 2003 S-Class or model with similar engine, part number 113 141 01 25. This is the part # for the plug and play model, no swapping of connectors involved. They should be able to search based on the part number. If they don't have one in stock I'm sure they can get you one. I got a couple of them from local salvage yards and a couple from them, people were and obviously still are having big trouble finding them.

I have one listed on the cheap in the for sale section. Just need to do some work getting it to mate up with the SC intake snout. Since you have two of them at your disposal, you just might be the right guy for this.

80mm Throttle Body - $350 obo

TVT Design, Crossfire Performance Parts - Chrysler Crossfire N/A

Simply scroll down... They have a 74mm TB ready to go. Pretty sure it's plug and play. Don't forget the MAF/MAF elbow...

i got mine off of ebay from an amg E55 with the supercharger housing for 150. (stole it lol) the supercharged motors have a differently calibrated tb from the na's so you have to take the connector housing off of your na and swap it onto the 74, its just a series of metal clips that pop off. mine was difficult because the housing on the 74 was coated in this plastic epoxy sealer. so it too a screwdriver and a hammer.

then its just bolting it up. TVT claims 5-8hp on a stock motor. im curious to see how much power is gained under the curve because the car feels totally different. we have a dyno day coming up so i'll compare the tb's.

im not sure about gas mileage as i haven't driven it enough yet.

the next things are a v8 maf, bigger injectors and by then hopefully i'll have the turbo kit done.

I saw that on ebay, but didn't want to mess with the electronics.

Good score though!

nope, its a dyno day we're having for all of our 240's. I might just toss my crossfire on the rollers since both of my 240s are in pieces
